Obama authorizes sending 1,200 troops to the Mexican border, but they will not enforce illegal immigration
Earlier this week, Barack Obama authorized sending an additional 1,200 troops to the Mexican border. Initially I was glad to hear the news, I would have liked to see even more troops heading to the border, but this is a start. However, I am not so enthusiastic about the National Guard being sent to the border any more because after reading this I have come to realize that this is not a real effort to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country. As a matter of fact, the National Guard troops that are being sent to the border are not going there to enforce illegal immigration at all.
The State Department has confirmed that these guards will be used to stop guns and drugs from coming across the border. The State Department felt that it needed to make this distinction clear after Mexico urged the Obama regime not to use these troops to stop illegal immigration.
I am not saying that I have a problem with the National Guard being used to stop illegal guns and illegal drugs from entering the country, I think that this is also a necessary step, but just one step. After all, who are the people that are smuggling the guns and drugs into this country? Sure there will be some Americans involved, but the majority of the people doing the smuggling will be Mexicans entering the country illegally to deliver their contraband. Why shouldn’t the National Guard troops be able to arrest, detain, and deport those illegals that are bringing these guns and drugs into the country? It seems like common sense to me that the issue of illegal guns, illegal drugs, and illegal immigrants should go hand in hand. I do find it laughable that after a complaint by Barack Obama’s new buddy– Felipe Calderon– he quickly felt it necessary to make sure Mexico knew that he was still going to allow illegals to flow into America.
It seems evident to me that Barack Obama is sending these troops to the border in order to make it look as though he is taking the issue of illegal immigration seriously, when in fact he is not. It is also evident to me that he is using this “show of force” as a bargaining chip for the upcoming debate on comprehensive immigration reform. According to polls, a vast majority of Americans want to seal the border first, and then talk about what to do with the illegals that are already in the country. This now gives Obama what he feels is a starting point for the upcoming debate. When the opposition demands that the border be closed, Barack Obama can turn around and say that he has begun this process with the deployment of these troops. He will then ask what will be given up in return for this new effort on the border. But, as the Obama regime was forced to admit to the Mexican government, this deployment has nothing to do with illegal immigration. It is designed solely to make it appear as if he is cracking down on illegal immigration to the American people.
He is just hoping that the American people do not see this news for what it really is– a sham designed to help Barack Obama in his push for amnesty.
