Senate committee will meet to discuss “reforming” federal gun laws
From the Senate Committee on the Judiciary:
NOTICE OF COMMITTEE HEARING
The Senate Committee on the Judiciary has scheduled a hearing entitled “Firearms in Commerce: Assessing the Need for Reform in the Federal Regulatory Process” for Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 226 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.By order of the Chairman.
That is all the information that has been provided to this point, but what exactly does this mean and what is going to be discussed? Those are the questions that must be answered.
The one thing we know for sure is the manner in which the federal government treats states that write laws with which it does not agree. We need to look no further than Arizona and her controversial immigration law. The Obama regime does not agree with Arizona that illegal immigration is a problem that is to be taken seriously, so when Arizona decided to crack down on illegal immigration the federal government decided to crack down on Arizona. The Obama regime is suing Arizona to stop her from implementing tough illegal immigration law as well as suing Sheriff Joe Apaio for enforcing illegal immigration law.
This leads us directly into two recent second amendment victories: Heller vs Washington DC and McDonald vs Chicago.
These two Supreme Court decisions combined have reaffirmed that the second amendment applies to individuals, while maintaining that certain reasonable restrictions on weapons is constitutional.
Needless to say, the Obama regime is probably not too happy with the fact that the Supreme Court has ruled that the second amendment is an individual right and is preparing to take advantage of the “reasonable restrictions” portion of the decision to test the waters and see how far they can go with imposing new restrictions on gun ownership.
The federal government knows that it will take years to challenge the new impositions they place on gun ownership and may be willing to pass multiple laws and fight it out in court to see which new laws will be ruled constitutional.
This is all conjecture at this part, we have no information on what actually will be discussed at this meeting, but we must watch this very closely.

When you see Feds and GUNS, you can bet your gun loving ass it ain’t gonna be good… 😕

This certainly something we need to keep an eye on, Steve. It sure would be nice to not have to look over our shoulder and wonder what Congress is up to on this. Don’t see that happening, do you?
