A second Democrat is now accused of handing out scholarships to family members in violation of the rules

  A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Eddie Bernice Johnson handing out 23 scholarships–made available by the Congressional Black Caucus–to members of her family as well as the family of a staff member. She did this in light of the fact that the rules plainly state that family members are exempt from the scholarships. She claimed that she knowingly did not violate any rules. Apparently we are supposed to believe that neither she nor her family members ever saw the anti-nepotism fine print in the documents that were signed when these scholarships were handed out and signed for.

  Now we have learned that she is not the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus to hand out scholarships to family members in violation of the anti-nepotism rules.

   Sanford Bishop has also handed out scholarships to family members in violation of the rule. He has handed out at least three scholarships to family members including one to his stepdaughter and step niece. Sanford Bishop’s wife also just happens to be a state employee of Georgia. While Sanford Bishop’s violations of the anti-nepotism rule don’t reach the same level as Eddie Bernice Johnson it is no less egregious for  him to use his position to benefit his family.

  This is exactly the type of behavior that Americans are growing tired of; politicians who are supposed to be public servants using their influence and power for their own benefit and for the benefit of their families. It is beyond time to vote all of these corrupt, money funneling, self serving, egotistical politicians out of Washington.

  Nancy Pelosi promised to do just that when she swore that she would “drain the swamp,” yet she has remained curiously silent on this issue as well as other issues surrounding corrupt Democrats–ie Charlie Rangel. If Nancy Pelosi really wanted to run the most honest Congress in history she would call for the investigation into and resignation of ALL politicians who have been corrupted by power, yet she seems all too willing to let the Democrats who have given into the temptations offered by Washington a free pass.
