WikiLeaks releases more top secret United States documents
By this time everyone has heard about the recent WikiLeaks “document dump” of top-secret United States documents, and anyone who cares already knows what was in those documents so I am not going to recap what the contents of those documents were.
I have to say that I find this most recent release of top-secret documents to be troubling and deeply concerning, as well as infuriating–not for the contents revealed in these documents, but rather in the fact that these documents were stolen in the first place.
Julian Assange–the man behind the WikiLeaks “document dumps” is either stealing this information or he has an informer on the inside who is providing him with these documents. I personally believe the latter it true, but either way I find it astonishing that we are facing such a threat to national security and this website is still allowed to operate.
The Department of Homeland Security has taken it upon themselves to shut down over 80 websites who they feel are violating copyright laws, even though there is no threat to national security and they do not have the authority to shut these websites down because the Congress still hasn’t–and is unlikely to–pass the bill which would give this department the authority to do so. Yet the Department of Homeland Security seems to be ignoring this real threat to our security. Meanwhile the Department of Homeland Security is forcing TSA workers to deprive American citizens of their fourth amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures without probable cause if they wish to fly.
Priority number one moving forward for the Obama regime should be finding the man or woman responsible for giving these documents to Julian Assange and prosecuting this person for treason, because that is what this amounts to.
Eric holder is now calling for an investigation into WikiLeaks and this is well deserved to say the least, but I ask you why should the Department of Homeland Security wait for an investigation into this matter when they are already shutting down various websites without an investigation?
Homeland Security’s job is to protect the United States and yet they seem to have misguided priorities. I can only hope that they will go after WikiLeaks as vigorously as they are going after those who are committing copyright infringement, and those whose only crime is a desire to travel by plane.
New York Republican Peter King has stated that WikiLeaks should be designated as a foreign terrorist organization because they represent a “clear and present danger to the United States,” while claiming that this leak was “worse than a military attack” on the United States. I agree with the sentiment although I would not agree that WikiLeaks is not a terrorist organization, they are however an enemy to the United States and should be treated as such.

It is funny that DHS will shut down sites that they THINK are violating copyright. They’ll do it with no due process. Then, as you suggest, when a site is actually jeopardizing national security, all they do is hand wringing. It’s almost as if they WANT that information to get out and embarrass the country.

I was thinking the same thing. They are acting so casual about this that it does almost seem like they are condoning it!

Someone smuggled it out for him. Apparently, 3 MILLION people have access to this “secret” information. How secret can it really be then?

3million people!? How the hell can the government expect there to not be a spy or two when that many people have access to the information!?

Thanks for the link Harrison, they even know who most likely leaked this information! How come they are doing nothing about this! I just don’t get it!

Thanks for the link Conservatives on Fire, I still can’t get over the fact that 3 million Americans have access to this information! This is something that needs to be changed to say the least!

something isn’t right here. If that really is classified information they have the authority to shut that site down immediately. The whole ‘oh well, national security is compromised’ with a shrug of the shoulders seems very, very strange.

It certainly does seem strange, I honestly do not understand what they are doing here.

Somebody needs to look into just who’s behind this WikiLeaks- I smell a skunk
And maybe Assange needs to consider the fact that the CIA is in the business of killing foreigners who endanger the lives of US citizens and/or those of our allies- the rape charge is just the start, Julian

Assange is one person that needs to be prosecuted, but we must also find out who is leaking this information.

You aren’t the only one who finds it extremely odd that WikiLeaks is still in operation. I would think they could shut it down, if they really wanted it shut down. They have already proven they have the wherewithal to do it with possible copyright infringement sites; it’s surprising that they haven’t done so with WikiLeaks.

I guess the question is, why don’t they want to shut it down? I just don’t understand how WikiLeaks is still operating.

What is more amazing to me is that no one has bumped him off. All of the countries involved and no one shutting him down figuratively or otherwise. If we can shut down Iran’s nuke making, no one wants to do this?
Nothing from Zero yesterday… perchants they are getting set to enforce the shutdown of websites here there and everywhere they deem a security threat? Odd that the Bill before the senate, and Homeland security were fast on track last week. There is more to this, but can only conjecture at this point. But it is smoke and mirrors at present.

I have to admit that today I began wondering if this had anything to do with the FCC moving forward with net neutrality without the authority of the Congress. Mayne this is being done as an example to show the American people why new neutrality is necessary.

As you may or may not be aware, there is a huge space OUTSIDE the United States which people call “the rest of the world”. It may or may not surprise you to know that US law does not apply there!
According to their website, Wikileaks is currently hosted on over 750 sites all over the internet. America simple does not have the authority or power to shut this site down, so stop whining about the Department of Homeland Security (yes, notice the word homeland) not doing anything.

Which is exactly why terrorists caught on the battle field should not be granted rights under the United States constitution, but you probably think that they should. That is an argument for another day though. So you are saying that if a person commits a crime against a nation, but that crime does not occur on that nation’s soil that there is nothing that that nation can do about it? Have you ever heard of extradition?
