Harry Reid to push four different versions of the DREAM Act in the lame duck Congress
Emboldened by his re-election, and feeling vindicated by it, Harry Reid appears hellbent on passing some version of the DREAM Act by whatever means necessary.
Harry Reid has introduced four different versions of the DREAM Act in an attempt to force one of these versions through the lame duck Congress, and he has done so without holding a hearing on any of these versions. This is exactly the type of political maneuvering that the American people rejected when they sent the Democrats home in last month’s midterm election, but Harry Reid does not give a damn what the American people want, so he will continue to push for the radical agenda that the American people have already rejected.
This has angered Jeff Sessions, who is the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee which Harry Reid is trying to bypass, and rightfully so.
We now may have a fourth version of the DREAM Act,” Sessions said Wednesday. “We haven’t had a hearing on that in seven years
While promising to fight the DREAM Act with “with every strength and every ability that I have,” Jeff Sessions released a statement which included the following:
Democrat leaders, in their rush to pass an unpopular bill during the lame-duck session, have completely bypassed the Judiciary Committee. They have introduced four separate versions of the same bill and, without any committee review, placed each and every one of them on the legislative calendar,” the statement said. “This unusual approach creates a chaotic situation, one that makes it more difficult for the public and their representatives — as well as the press — to review this deeply controversial measure
Jeff Sessions is absolutely right on all counts. Harry Reid is trying to fast track the unpopular DREAM Act through the Congress and he is in such a rush to do so that he is sidestepping the usual procedures because he realizes that this may be his last chance to pass this legislation for many years.
When Barack Obama spoke on the “shellacking” that Democrats incurred in the midterm elections he claimed that the elections were proof that the American people were sending a message to Washington that the people wanted Washington to compromise. Evidentially Harry Reid either didn’t get Barack Obama’s message, or his interpretation of compromise is when Republicans acquiesce to the demands of the Democrat party.
Harry Reid’s refusal to not only let go of the DREAM Act, but to also double down and force this legislation through the Congress is further proof that Harry Reid is not listening to the American people. As I said in the opening paragraph of this post, Harry Reid has been emboldened by his re-election; he considers his re-election as proof that his constituents want the DREAM Act and he is ignoring the fact that the American people by and large oppose this bill.
The lame duck Congress is dangerous because the Democrats who are still in the Congress for the next several weeks have nothing left to lose, so they will continue to push the same type of legislation that led to their defeat in the first place.
The Republicans in the lame duck Congress must do everything they can to delay this legislation, and other legislation pending in the lame duck Congress, until the politicians that the American people have chosen to represent them in the new Congress are allowed to vote in their best interest.
Harry Reid is pulling out all of the stops in an effort to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, but it is Harry Reid who must be stopped!

Something strange is going on here. This guy was anti-amnesty at one point in his career. Now he’s obsessed with it. He’s at the end of his career. I don’t see the payoff for him.

Whose side is that? The way I see it is that unless you are in lock-step with his incalculable idiocy, another 6 years of him is nothing but damage. Any politician not only out of touch with the public he or she serves, but with reality does nothing to help our country whatsoever.

I am normally opposed to term limits, but in this case I would welcome them!

I would be as I believe in less regulation, and free markets. The problem is that incumbents have a massive advantage in American politics where they can use their office to perpetuate their position unfairly. If incumbents were only allowed to campaign off-hours, and purely on their own dime, I’d be opposed to term-limits myself.

Harry Reid, needs to be out of office, I think he is senile, he doesn’t live with the mexicans and here them jibber jabber all day, they have no respect for america, only what they can get out of her, and harry reid must set around and play tiddle winks on his fingers all day, in my opinion he is an idiot, and so stupid he can’t hardly find his way to go wherever he goes, he is selling out our country, this is an english speaking country not jibber jabber, also this guy needs to be fired from his post, when you have no intelligence, you don’t need to be in office, we need to take all of the spanish road signs down also. Wake up America, in 2012 this country will be so divided their will be no United States of America, just a country divided, and then it will all end the way we know it. WAKE UP AMERICA.
