Timothy Geithner admits that Barack Obama’s budget proposal is unsustainable

Earlier today Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sat down in front of the Senate Budget Committee in an attempt to defend Barack Obama’s latest budget proposal. But even he ran into a little problem, here is what Barack Obama’s tax cheating Treasury Secretary had to say about Barack Obama’s proposal:
You’re absolutely right that with the president’s plan, even if Congress were to enact it, and even if Congress were to hold to it and reduce those deficits to three percent of GDP over the next five years, we would still be left with a very large interest burden and unsustainable obligations over time
Do I really need to say anything else? Even Timothy Geithner could not defend Barack Obama’s budget.

We already knew this. The fact that Geithner found it impossible to defend the budget is the real news.

That is the best part of this little story; Geithner was sent to defend the budget but when he was put under pressure he simply could not do it. Priceless!

Geithner had best watch his back. If he is unable to offer even the most basic defense of the President’s plan, he may find himself looking for another job.

Good one. The thing is, we’ve known for years how the budget goes in the coming years. Sadly, neither party has done much with entitlements which are the main reason why things will become unsustainable in the future. Still, it’s always nice when a White House official is forced to admit the truth.

Until the government addresses entitlements nothing will change, but it was great to see Geithner stumble and actually tell the truth for once.
