Donald Trump claims he may run for president as an independent
During an interview on Monday, Donald Trump stated that if he does not win the Republican nomination he would probably run as an independent. It is my belief that it is going to be difficult to beat Barack Obama in 2012 even in his weakened position because it seems as if the Republican frontrunners are equally as weak, but this decision by Donald Trump will secure the re-election of Barack Obama.
This would be a horrible decision indeed as it will split the Republican vote, and it is hard to believe that many Democrats who are upset with Barack Obama would break ranks and vote for Donald Trump. Trump claims that he “hates what is happening to the country,” and if this is true I fail to see how he can possibly think that splitting the Republican vote in this pivotal election would do anything to correct what has been happening in this country during Barack Obama’s first term.
Donald Trump is injecting himself in this race for one reason and one reason only–Donald Trump:
“I’m not doing it for any other reason. I enjoy winning.”
It’s all about the Donald–and promoting his television show. Donald Trump is currently playing an important role in the upcoming presidential election–he is the attack dog of the Republican party, and I actually like what he is doing in this role. He is saying things and bringing up issues that no legitimate presidential candidate can touch. For this he is playing a valuable role. If he decides to actually run for president that is all well and good. But if he loses the Republican primary he should bow out gracefully and accept the will of the people. To do otherwise would be to ensure the very outcome he is looking to avoid.
It is my belief that Donald Trump is doing this to gain publicity for his new television show, but if he is serious about this he must sooner or later come to the realization that he runs a third party candidacy he will bring down the Republican party and send Barack Obama back to the White House.

If Trump runs as an Indy, Obama WILL be the POTUS for another 4 years…
My God, when and HOW does this nightmare end?

I am afraid it won’t.

You really know how to make my day, Steve. 2012 is definitely not the year for a third party or an independent. He can’t possibly hate America that much. Hopefully he is just posturing.

Sorry. 🙂 I don’t think he is serious, but you never know. He might be enjoying this so much that he won’t be willing to let it go.

Dunno – it costs a lot of money to mount a serious Presidential campaign, especially as an independent. Ask H. Ross Perot.
And I think you’re right, I think the impact of the Trumpster on the 2012 race will be pretty much the same as Perot’s impact on the 1992 race – it badly split the anti-Clinton vote, letting Clinton win with just 43% of the popular vote (but still more than either of the other candidates).
Of course, the lib dream ticket (for the GOP) would be Trump/Palin, but I think even as an indie ticket, it’s still shred the anti-Obama vote (which will be significant, but not victorious, even absent a serious 3rd party challenge).
Take good care and may God bless us all!

Yep, the libs are excited about the possibility of Trump entering this race and that says everything that we need to know. It might only take 5% to swing this election one way or the other and I wouldn’t be surprised if a third party Trump ticket could pull 15 to 20%.

Ross Perot all over again…Obama will win because the vote will be divided. Buckle up, here we go again.

It is a scary thought, and I hope that Trump comes to his senses.

I saw today CNN already presented the Republican field to the rest of us. It did not include Cain, West, or even Bolton.

The media is going to push candidates on us as they did in 2008, I hope that we have more sense this time around and do not nominate someone because the media likes him.

Well, at least we won’t know whether to laugh or cry during the campaign.

I think he will give us some laughs during the campaign, but when it’s over we will be crying.

Maybe he’s just trying to get an ambassadorship to the Vatican?

If trump runs for president and wins then I’m going to leave the United States. Seriously, does anyone else besides me know how many times he’s gone bankrupt? And he’s saying he can get americas respect back. The only people that can do that are the citizens, not one real estate mogul. Get a real american in office.

He has no chance, so don’t make those plans just yet.

I heard this on Rush yesterday and it made me so mad.
I knew that Trump made me nervous, I just knew it.
Thanks for getting the word out, I think I’ll repost.
