Ministry of Propaganda? Barack Obama creates a new government agency to control his message

May 24, 2011

According to this Huffington Post article Barack Obama has created a new position within his regime and has hidden it inside his communications department to avoid alerting the taxpaying public to this new expenditure. The title of this new position is the Director of Progressive Media & Online Response and it will be filled by a man named Jesse Lee.

What will Jesse Lee be responsible for in the Obama regime?

The Obama administration has created and staffed a new position tucked inside their communications shop for helping coordinate rapid response to unfavorable stories and fostering and improving relations with the progressive online community.

Propaganda control, that’s what this is. It certainly seems as if Lee and his minions will be scouring the internet for anti-Obama writings and will then “coordinate” a response to those stories using a network of progressive bloggers to harass and intimidate people who dare to speak ill of Dear Leader.

It also signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive engagement in the online world in the months ahead.

More aggressive engagement in the online world? What can this possibly mean other than this being an attempt to control the alternative media and the stories they are allow to write about? As a blogger I read the news and I write my OPINION about what is going on and needless to say I am very critical of the president, but suddenly that makes me and my ilk a target of a new government agency which looks to control and harass me for exercising my first amendment rights.

How far can and will this go? Should we expect this new agency to stop at merely responding to unfavorable articles, or can it be expected that the government will look to shutdown websites which disagree with the president? After all, somehow the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement have gained the authority to shutdown websites which are illegally downloading or sharing music and movies, and while these illegal websites should be shutdown I fail to see how this falls under the jurisdiction of either of the aforementioned agencies–this does not seem to be an issue of national security and it certainly isn’t an immigration issue–what is to stop them from shutting down anti-Obama websites in the future?

If the Obama regime can justify using DHS and ICE to target websites which represent no threat to the nation can it not be expected that these departments could justify shutting down websites which they decide are hostile to the president? It takes no great leap of faith to believe that both DHS and ICE could find these websites to be a threat to the president and thusly a threat to national security.

And it isn’t as if Barack Obama hasn’t used this tactic before; as a candidate for president in 2008, Barack Obama created “truth squads” in Missouri to do exactly what this new department will be charged with doing. However, it is one thing for a candidate to set up a propaganda arm using donations which supporters willingly gave to his campaign, and it is another altogether for the president to set up an official government agency using taxpayer money to fund it in order to control his message to the American people and help him gain re-election. Is this even legal? This is an issue which needs to be investigated for Barack Obama has set up a government agency entrusted with helping him in his re-election bid.

The internet is a place where people are unregulated and are allowed to debate the issues at hand and Barack Obama does not feel as if this is freedom at its best, in fact he feels as if it is freedom at its worst–he feels threatened by it because it provides a forum for people who disagree with him to express their opinions in an online community where millions of Americans can gain access to information and make their own decisions based on what they read.

What should be celebrated as freedom is frowned upon by this president–remember when he declared that Americans had access to too much information and that this information was nothing but a distraction? It has been said that knowledge is power and what Barack Obama fears most of all is an informed public because an informed people is an emboldened people. Shutdown dissention, control the message and the media, and you control the people.

This feels much more like the Obama regime setting up what is for all intents and purposes a Ministry of Propaganda. Or better yet, the Ministry of Truth…..

You are exactly right. This a propaganda Czar whose job is only to try to make Obama look good. The tax payers should not be paying for this. And it doesn’t matter that Mr. Lee is doomed to fail. No one can make this clown look good. Barry should be paying for this out of his own pocket.

I agree, how is it possible that the taxpayers will be on the hook for this when it seems as if this sould be a campaign posititon not an official government position? I hope Issa takes a look at this.

Only the House of Reps can shut this down by de-funding the Presidential budget (purse string check), but he can channel money from other departmental budgets. It’s high time for a Forensic Audit of all of the Executive Departments. Money being funneled for campaign purposes should be stopped immediately. Joseph Goebbels would be proud of Herr Obama!

That would be a good start, but I have to believe that this is something that the ethics panel could investigate and shut down.

I guess he learned from his hero Lincoln who went even further and censored the press during his presidency.

But at least Lincoln believed he had certain war time powers and used that as his excuse for his many userpations of the constitution, maybe that is why he goaded the south into firing on Fort Sumter. But Obama has no such excuse.

The most disturbing thing was this quote from a story on Drudge:

If you’re going to post something online about Obama that isn’t true, Lee is going to be the one to handle you. Considering that Lee’s first tweet about his new position included a picture of The Terminator, we suggest you watch what you say OR BE DESTROYED.

    Yikes!

@HARRISON – “….. watch what you say or be destroyed.” WRONG !!!! NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK OUT. NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT. BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. It is THAT FEAR and intimidation that they are using to control us and keep our mouths shut while they do as they wish. The time is long over-due for the people of this country to grow some serious balls and stand up like AMERICANS, not like cowering, frightened children. There are those who will argue that it is better to remain silent and that we can just “vote” it all away. But as Stalin said,’ Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the votes DECIDE EVERYTHING.” To remain silent is to give into them and loose everything; our property, our freedom, our lives and dignity. I SAY DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR!!!!!

Remember when they wanted us to turn in people that opposed Obamacare? Looks like we’ll be on yet another hit list.

I had forgotten about that one or I would have included it in my post, but yes, we are all on another list. I consider it a badge of honor.

Looks like it might violate the Hatch Act per an article in Infowars. Who cares anymore I guess.

Wow, this is actually an opportunity. We can catalog their activities. Folks get intimidated? Record it and post it. It’s a slam dunk!

This sickens me Steve. This is nothing more than a tactic to attack dissent. Wouldn’t it be great if Obama actually read the federalist papers or anything on the founders?

I am afraid that, much like the constitution, the left feels these are old antiquated documents which really don’t mean anything in today’s day and age. It is sad really.

Our other rights are eroding, as evidenced by the Patriot Act extension, and the recent Indiana supreme court decision, that law enforcement can enter your house without a warrant.

The only right that is still protecting us is the 2nd amendment – once they find a way to disarm us, it’s game over.

That Indiana ruling was outrageous! I am sure Obama is working on the second amendment behind our backs. We had better be very careful or we are going to lose the republic.
