Democrats begin to side with Benjamin Netanyahu over Barack Obama

May 25, 2011

During his “Muslim outreach” speech last week Barack Obama suggested that Israel should cede its borders back towards her pre 1967 borders in an attempt to promote peace talks with those states who seek her ultimate destruction. Needless to say this was met with condemnation from Republicans and conservatives in the Congress and all across the blogosphere.

As is evidenced from the reception and multiple standing ovations the Israeli Prime Minster received while addressing a joint session of the Congress it would seem as if it is not only the Republicans and conservatives who are dismayed with Barack Obama’s Israeli concession speech–Democrats are beginning to side with Benjamin Netanyahu over Barack Obama on this issue.

One Democrat,  Robert Andrews of New Jersey, went as far as saying that Barack Obama was almost siding with Hamas over Israel:

Rep. Robert Andrews (D-N.J.) said Tuesday that Obama is “tilting toward Hamas” – a reference to the Palestinian group the United States and Israel consider a terrorist organization. He emphasized that Congress would never base its approach to Israeli aid on such a position.

“A majority of the Congress disagrees with him,” Andrews said of Obama.

And if that isn’t proof enough that the president’s new Israeli policy is ill-conceived on its own than we need to look no further than the fact that two of the most powerful Democrats in the Congress–Harry Reid and Steny Hoyer–also oppose Barack Obama’s new Israeli policy. Here is what Harry Reid had to say:

No one should set premature parameters about borders, about building or about anything else

Normally I would be of the opinion that if a United States president held a position that Harry Reid opposed he was doing something right, but on this rare occasion I have to agree (gulp) with Harry Reid. It takes an extraordinary circumstance for one Democrat leader to turn against another and this is one such occasion.

Now that Harry Reid and Steny Hoyer have publicly come out against Barack Obama for throwing our one true ally in the Middle East under the bus it will be interesting to see which Democrats stand with the president and which Democrats stand with Benjamin Netanyahu–judging by the reaction of the Congress yesterday I am willing to bet that Barack Obama is feeling pretty lonely right about now.

After watching Glenn Beck, I have to agree with his questioning as to the “WHY” Obama wanted to pick a fight with Netanyahu and then leave the country. When Obama misdirects us, there is an agenda that is hidden that he is pulling. I think this needs to be looked at a LOT MORE CLOSELY then just taking things at face value. The Democrats have been given plausible deniability to support Israel, for their benefit, not Israel. Just my thoughts.

Very interesting indeed! It does seem strange that Obama would leave the country while the leader of a foreign nation was address a joint session.

BHO dodges any confrontation. He threw his entire party under the bus to get his Health Care passed.
And what the Hell did he need to go to Ireland for except to try to hide and deflect all the heat coming down about his foreign policy disaster.

It was an odd time to go to Ireland with the PATRIOT Act up for renewal, you think he would have been here for that.

Who is advising Obama on foreign affairs? Hillary is smarter than that. Then he goes across the pond and makes an ass of himself with Queen. His ineptitude make America look bad not just himself.

I think his main advisor is Valerie Jarrett. From what I understand she is to Obama what Karl Rove was to Bush.

If he’s taking the advice of Valerie Jarrett, he’s making a huge mistake. Advising the President on protocol during state visits overseas is the State Department’s job. That would be Hillary Clinton, or one of here State Dept proxies, and the local ambassador. A short, pithy, “To Her Majesty the Queen” (period, end of toast) is the “protocol” toast, followed by the National Anthem, and the ambassador would have known that. Talking over the National Anthem is bad form ANYWHERE, even if it had turned out that the orchestra made a mistake (and they did not).

So now it appears that Obama is listening to HIS flunkies instead of the grown ups. And God help me for coming to any conclusion that includes Hillary as one of the “grown ups”!!!

It is amazing the ineptitude with which Barack Obama has surrounded himself; is there anyone within the regime that has clue what the hell they are doing?

Take a hard look at Samantha Powers and do a background on her. She is the main issue.

I think the majority of Americans would defend Israel and understand the threat of Hamas to Israel and the US. Once again Obama has shown his hand and it isn’t one I’d want to shake.

I think you are right, the American people on the whole understand how important an ally Israel is, why doesn’t the president?

There just isn’t any way around this… the man is inept in foreign policy, period. Only a rank amateur would propose starting a negotiation and reveal all cards at the start. THAT is inexcusable.

It’s like you’re negotiating a settlement between two neighbors over their fence line. You START the negotiation by telling Neighbor A that Neighbor B is going to give up 10 feet of land on his side. Neighbor B has said no such thing, and Neighbor A hasn’t been told to give up anything or compromise in any way.

    What an idiot!!!
