Barney Frank admits he got his boyfriend a job at Fanny Mae

May 26, 2011

It has been an open secret that Barney Frank used his position in the United States House and his influence to help his ex-boyfriend obtain a lucrative position at Fannie Mae, but now Barney Frank is finally admitting what many of us have known for a long time. He is not apologetic for this conflict of interest–and is in denial that a conflict exists–but rather is defending this because everybody does it.

“If it is (a conflict of interest), then much of Washington is involved (in conflicts),” Frank told the Herald last night. “It is a common thing in Washington for members of Congress to have spouses work for the federal government. There is no rule against it at all

When President Bush tried to pass legislation to reform Fannie Mae it was none other than Barney Frank who declared that Fannie Mae was “fundamentally sound” and accused the Bush administration of fear mongering.

So to wrap this up according to Barney Frank: Barney Frank’s boyfriend held a position at Fannie Mae which he helped him to get, the Bush administration was pushing for legislation that would impose stricter regulations on Fannie Mae, Barney Frank opposed this legislation while his boy toy was employed by the company, and we are supposed to believe that there was no conflict of interest?

We are supposed to believe that barney Frank’s position on the mortgage giant was not in any way clouded by the fact that he got his lover employed with the company that most people credit with the mortgage meltdown, and we are not supposed to believe that he used his position on the finance committee to defend Fannie Mae because his boyfriend stood to gain from his employment at the company. And even if he did use his position to influence the Congress it is justifiable because hell, everyone else does it.

And they wonder why the American people are losing faith in the system?

This guy makes me retch everytime I hear or see him. His contempt for the tax payers is incredible. He is a huge part of the reason for the real estate collapse. He and his buddy Chris Dodd. You know I dream of a day when people quit re-electing these kind people (of both parties). Retire this guy already. He’s a crook, a liar, and an embarrasment.

It is sad that the media doesn’t find this to be a newsworthy topic simply because Frank happens to be a Democrat.

He’s an arrogant, crooked man without morals or ethics. I can’t believe he’s been around for 30 years. Interesting that he chose to retire (with full pay and benefitis until death, of course) at this time. He should be facing prison, rather than a cushy retirement at taxpayer’s expense.
