Gunrunner: Darrell Issa claims Eric Holder’s testimony was not accurate

July 7, 2011

Back on May 3rd Darrell Issa questioned Eric Holder in front of the  House Judiciary Committee; he asked Eric Holder when he first heard about Operation Fast and Furious and Eric Holder testified that he “probably” only heard about the operation a “few weeks ago.”

Darrell Issa does not believe Eric Holder is telling the truth:

We believe that he was aware of it much earlier than he said in his testimony and questioning before the Judiciary Committee,” Issa told CNSNews.com in an interview.

“Are we confident that Eric Holder knew it much earlier? No,” said Issa. “Did he know it earlier than he testified? Absolutely”

Darrell Issa doesn’t have the evidence–yet–to make the claim that Eric Holder either knew about the operation from its inception, or possibly authorized it, but he does know that Eric Holder isn’t being entirely truthful about what he knew and when he knew it. This leads to more questions about what Eric Holder is hiding and I expect Darrell Issa to get to the bottom of this.

Here is where Eric Holder’s story begins to unravel:

Yet, three full months after these public news reports, at a May 3 Judiciary Committee hearing, Attorney General Holder, under questioning by Issa, testified that he had “probably” only learned about Operation Fast and Furious in “the last few weeks.”

Reports of the botched operation were made public three months before Eric Holder testified he found out about Gunrunner a few weeks earlier. Apparently we are to believe that Eric Holder does not watch the news, not does anyone on his staff. Okay, for the sake of argument let’s pretend that it could be possible for Eric Holder to not learn through the media about Operation Gunrunner, how does he explain this:

Within 24 hours of Terry’s murder, according to an internal ATF email released by Issa, the FBI had definitively traced the rifles found at the murder scene back to Operation Fast and Furious and had so notified ATF.

Six weeks later, on Jan. 27, 2011, Senate Judiciary Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R.-Iowa) wrote a letter to ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson asking him to explain Operation Fast and Furious in light of the weapons found at the scene of Terry’s murder

Within one day of Brian Terry’s murder the FBI already knew these guns were a part of Gunrunner, and six weeks after that the investigation into this scandal was well underway, yet Eric Holder still hadn’t heard of it? As Hillary Clinton once said to General David Petraeus, to believe this “requires the willing suspension of disbelief.” We are either to believe that Eric Holder is lying about when he knew about the operation, or he was oblivious to what was going on, both scenarios are indictments on the man.

Darrell Issa was asked by CNS News:

“If DOJ officials have lied to Congress, would there be a possibility of perjury or contempt charges?”

  To which he responded:

Certainly if you lie to Congress, that’s a possibility. One of the oddities, if you lie to Congress, we’d refer to Justice for prosecution

The possibility of perjury charges is certainly there, but as Darrell Issa alluded to, the problem is that this would be sent to the department which was trying to cover up this scandal in the first place for prosecution. Eric Holder must step aside until this investigation is over; this case should be sent to whoever replaces him in the DOJ for prosecution because there is the real possibility that Eric Holder lied to the Congress and he should be ineligible to serve until he is cleared, and if he is found guilty than he should be sent to prison.

The walls are closing in on Eric Holder and he should do the honorable thing and resign immediately, but there is nothing honorable about this man.

When I was a kid my Dad taught me a valuable lesson. My parents where going shopping for a while one afternoon. My brother and I were meeting the rest of the neighborhood kids at the local school yard for the usual pick-up game of football. The last thing my Dad said to us was, “Touch football only, no tackle.” We said sure, right, OK, see you later. I wound up banging the hell out of my shin into another guy’s and had a pronounced limp for a couple of days. When we got home, ahead of mom and dad, I found out that my “wound” was the same height as the coffee table top. My brother and I concocted a story about how I banged it into the table. I don’t know if my dad bought that or not, but he gave me the benefit of the doubt. A few days later he asked how my leg was doing. I said OK and that the guy I hit was OK too. My dad laughed and said, “Robbie, when you lie you gotta remember what you said. When you tell the truth you don’t have to.” Eric Holder’s dad should have told him the same thing.

A great story! And a lesson that Eric Holder should have learned as well, but I am happy he didn’t because it could lead to his downfall.

I’m beginning to think we need a special prosecutor to open a separate investigation of the DOJ.

I think that you are right because it appears as if they are trying to cover this up and there is no way we can expect this department to investigate itself. This scandal is expanding and it is time for a special prosecutor to sort this out.

This entire Fast and Furious operation is a screwed up mess, a Federal debacle on a level that only the Federal government could put together, and I am sure that heads WILL roll.

I just hope it’s the right heads and not some few sacrificial lambs.

Exactly, I want to see the right heads role. Holder tried to make Melson take the fall but he would have none of it and I don’t think Issa is going to back down anytime soon.

They can always employ an independent prosecutor. Allowing the DOJ to investigate itself would be ridiculous. There are ways around that.

There is going to have to be a special prosecuter now, there is no way this cannot link all the way back to the DOJ.

I suspect that this is the reason the BATFE head is refusing to step down. By his logic, why should he take the fall for following orders that came from his boss(es)? Holder knew. He may have even come up with this treasonous scam. If Holder knew, Obama knew as well. The monkey wrench in the works, so to speak, came when their fall guy refused to take one for the team and resign. Heads are going to roll over this. This is straight up treason. Everyone involved should go to prison. The second amendment is one of the most important parts of the bill of rights. It is the thin line between liberty and tyranny. Period.

There is no doubt tat Holder knew all along, and it is highly likely that Obama did as well. Heads will roll and they should, I just hope the right ones roll.

Issa was making the rounds on TV last night. We may just have something here that will stick. If we can get Holder to lie under oath…which he may have done already, we can get rid of one of Obama’s worse co-horts.

I think he has already lied under oath (more on that later tonight) and I think he will soon be gone and I can’t wait.

“If DOJ officials have lied to Congress, would there be a possibility of perjury or contempt charges?”

Just ask Former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, bout that!

“Certainly if you lie to Congress, that’s a possibility. One of the oddities, if you lie to Congress, we’d refer to Justice for prosecution.”

Don’t prosecute in Florida…Send em all to Texas for a little Justice!

Holder knew within 3 months of taking office according to his own speech posted on the DOJ website.

“not accurate” Of course not. He was and continues to lie through his teeth. Eric Holder is probably working on his own pardon right now. All it will need is Barry Obama’s signature.
