Gunrunner: Eric Holder perjured himself, he knew about the operation in 2009

July 8, 2011

When questioned before the Congress in May of this year about his knowledge of Operation Gunrunner Eric Holder claimed that he first became aware of this failed program only “weeks ago” sometime after it was learned that the operation was directly responsible for Brian Terry’s murder. Yesterday I wrote this post about Darrell Issa’s belief that Eric Holder was not being truthful about his knowledge of Gunrunner when he testified before a Congressional committee.

In that post I showed proof that Eric Holder knew about Gunrunner for at least three months and not the “few weeks” that he claimed. But maybe we can give Eric Holder the benefit of the doubt, maybe he simply had his timeline confused and lost track of time. Maybe was was confused and forgot the date he learned about Gunrunner.

Or maybe not, because if we look at this article which is posted on the Department of Justice’s official website we can see the contents of a speech which Eric Holder was to give at the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference concerning gun violence at the Mexican border. The article is dated April 2nd 2009, over two years ago.

Here is what Eric Holder said–as posted on the Department of Justice website–two years ago:

Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels.  My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion.  DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail.

It is now clear that Eric Holder knew about Operation Gunrunner from its inception and was proud of it. I would also say this confirms the very likely possibility that Eric Holder authorized the operation, and at the very least approved of it. But this shows us that this scandal goes even higher than Eric Holder as he mentions both the administration and Janet Napolitano.

“Our administration launched a major new effort.”

Whose administration would that be? Barack Obama’s administration of course. Eric Holder mentioned that Barack Obama’s administration launched this new major effort to curb the violence at the Mexican border, are we to believe that this was going on unbeknownst to the head of the administration–Barack Obama? If so then this is proof that Barack Obama is as incompetent–and as much of a liar–as Eric Holder and he must also be help accountable for selling weapons to people who were looking to–and did–commit crimes against the very people to whom he swore an oath to protect.

And there is also his mention of Janet Napolitano by name. She was going to provide details about the United States’ new committment following Eric Holder’s speech. Again, are we to believe that this was going on without the knowledge of Janet Napolitano in light of these new revelations? How stupid does the Obama regime think we are?

Darrell Issa’s concerns about Eric Holder’s honesty during his testimony have been confirmed. We now know that Eric Holder knew about Gunrunner from the beginning despite his contrary testimony and there can no longer be any doubt that Eric Holder perjured himself and must resign immediately.

But this official release by the Department of Justice raises even more questions and Darrell Issa can no longer be satisfied with just Eric Holder’s resignation because it seems quite possible that Barack Obama and Janet Napolitano also either knew about or were involved in this operation as well. We need to know what Barack Obama and Janet Napolitano knew and we deserve to know when they knew it.

This scandal is growing bigger every day: We have at least one dead American because of Operation Gunrunner, and we have a “Justice” Department head who is trying to cover up the scandal to protect his boss and lying under oath as to his involvement to do just that, while at the same time going so far as to attempting to make the acting head of the ATF fall on the sword for him. We have the head of Homeland Security now mentioned in this scandal and yet the media is still committing journalist malpractice by not even reporting this scandal. The media simply does not believe this scandal deserves front page coverage and would be content to see the Obama regime get away with this atrocity.

Luckily Darrell Issa is showing no signs of relenting; he must continue this investigation until EVERYONE who was involved in this scandal resigns in disgrace–up to and including Barack Obama himself.

Great article. This thing just keeps unraveling more and more. I look forward to Issa kicking some butt.

Thank you, I think that Issa is doing a great job on this issue and I can only hope that he doesn’t back down. I don’t think he will because there is plenty of smoke here.

You have to wonder if Obama will throw Holder under the bus. This has to be making several people uncomfortable. As you say, America deserves to who was involved and that each must pay to the full extent of the law. Unfortunately history tells a different story. Teddy Kennedy and Richard Nixon come to mind.

I think that eventually Obama will be forced to throw Holder under the bus, but at this point I don’t think that is good enough. I want to see this investigated because I believe Barack Obama was directly involved in this scandal.

If Holder’s dismissed because he’s done wrong, it’s not throwing him under the bus. If he’s dismissed not because of wrongdoing, but because he’s more of a liability than an asset, that’s tossing him under the bus.

Gotta be careful with the semantics here; otherwise, those who are calling for Holder to be fired, if it happens, will immediately start jeering that Obama threw him under the bus.

Take good care, enjoy the weekend and may God bless us all!

Damn straight. And thank you for meioitnnng the Gunwalker scandal, since it’s easily the worst thing since Iran-Contra. Only, unlike with Iran-Contra, there is no way the President did not know of, approve, and is now covering up the Gunwalker scandal.Long version: Short version, with lots of links: A very complete chronicle:

Steve I believe this could lead right to the oval office. People need to start contacting their elected officials about this matter because of true we may have had a unknowing hand in the death of an American citizen. I find this offensive because I feel like my tax dollars went towards murdering and American citizen who protected our borders. This is absolutely appalling. This should prompt a call to action from the citizenry because technically it’s blood on all of our hands.

I hadn’t thought of it that way John, but I think it was Melson who testified that tax dollars were used in this program so you have a great point there. I will be contacting my reps first thing tomorrow.

If this doesn’t end Holder’s career it’s because Obama gives him a pardon and looks the other way…

I would bet everything I own that Holder has known about this from Day 1… Obama, maybe not, but at some point they had to have read him in… At that point the *CYA* began…

And Holder may be the last man standing with no chair…

There is no doubt in my mind that Eric Holder knew about this from the beginning, and while Obama may not have known from the beginning I think he did, and if he didn’t he found out about is soon afterward. It is impossible to think that an operation of this magnitude could be underway without him being informed at some point.

What has me most trouble is what Mark Levin has been saying about it all week… that this is bigger than Watergate, and the news media isn’t paying attention. One of Levin’s comments was that if Obama DIDN’T know anything about this, he is, indisputably, the most incompetent boob ever to sit in the Oval Office. If he DID know– even finding out later on– and participated in Holder’s refusal to turn over documents to Issa’s committee, then this is an impeachable offense.

Who did what when is very important here. Just involvement in a cover-up is enough. If Nixon hadn’t resigned, he would have been impeached. Compared to this debacle, Watergate was just a third-rate burglary. No one was murdered at the Watergate Hotel.

another 1000 guns went to MS13 in guatamala, http://video.foxnews.com/#/v/1044378925001/what-did-officials-know-about-operation-fast-and-furious/?playlist_id=87485
I am begining to think this is even more than a way to further gun control, I wonder if they maybe fortifying our enemies for something even more nefarious, maybe crisis? anarchy? marshall law? it is known fact that iran backed hezbolla has a presence in south america and mexico, we see car bombings and beheadings that are the hallmark of islamic terrorism,
looking at eveything with a broad brush we see reckless fiscal policies, an EPA tearing through our energy sector, healthcare and regulation killing jobs, the repeal of DADT, demorilizing our miltary, proposed 700 billion in defense cuts, in maybe the most unstable time of our lives, the devaluing of our dollar, our meddling in the middle east appearing to enable and support our sworn enemies; cuddling up to the muslim brotherhood,Agenda 21,the list goes on and on…….
it seems more and more like an accelerated and coordinated effort to bring this country to its knees.
its frightening to think of the country we are leaving for our children and grandchildren,

You can bet Obama has his finger on the marshal law “button”,so to speak. That’s all part of the endgame. Ruin the economy, devalue the dollar, put a massive ,intrusive security grid in place (TSA VIPR units, DHS, FEMA) and then sit back and wait for people’s benefits to run out. Law abiding citizens start stealing and robbing for food after a few days and start killing after about ten. US troops won’t go along with this? That’s why they’re planning on using foreign troops. Wake up your friends. Good luck.

Overall, it was and is a great article, up until the very end, when the author stated “until EVERYONE who was involved in this scandal resigns in disgrace–up to and including Barack Obama himself”.

They should all be punished according to the law for distributing and allowing guns to go into Mexico and they should all be subjected to prison time if found guilty in a Court of Law. There is absolutely no doubt that Obama and Eric Holder are fully implicated, Obaba signed a bill allocating $10,000,000.00 to Project Gunrunner in 2009, yet his Press Secretary Jay Carney said that Obama just found out about Fast and Furious on a local News Channel, right!

I guess he forgot about the $10,000,000.00 that he allocated for that specific project. Come of folks even if you are a staunch Democrat you have to know that this is wrong and needs to be punished accordingly.

I agree and have since called for a special prosecutor because it is evident that this should now be a criminal investigation and all those responsible for it should end up in jail.
