Gunrunner: Chuck Grassley claims the DOJ may have been involved in “criminal activity”

  As I wrote about here, Darrell Issa has gone on record as stating that Eric Holder and the department of Justice were involved in obstruction of justice for the department’s unwillingness to provide the Oversight Committee with requested documents related to Operation Gunrunner. He also cited an attempt by Eric Holder to stop the acting head of the ATF, Kenneth Melson, from testifying in front of the Congress as proof that the Obama regime was trying to cover up the role they played in this scandal.

  Senator Charles Grassley is now backing up Darrel Issa’s claim:

I think they’re trying to cover up now by not giving us all the information that we want

  These two influential members of the House Oversight Committee have now gone on record as stating that Eric Holder is involved in a coverup–the irony of the fact that the man charged with upholding federal law was actively engaged in breaking the law as well as covering it up is not lost on this writer–but Charles Grassley did not stop there.

  When asked about the possibility of criminal activity in the Obama regime Chuck stated that there may in fact have been “criminal activity” in the Obama regime in regards to this coverup:

In regard to criminality, this is quite obvious there is criminal activity when our own government suggests our own laws ought to be broken

  Eric Holder has already testified in front of the Congress that he knew nothing about this botched operation until it became public knowledge, yet we have video proof that Eric Holder knew about Operation Gunrunner from its inception, so right there Eric Holder is guilty of perjury and lying to the Congress under oath; even in the unlikely and unbelievable event that Eric Holder did not know about Operation Gunrunner and did not engage in “criminal activity” before his testimony he certainly has engaged in criminal activity when he testified before the Congress that he knew nothing about this operation when he clearly did. Just ask Scooter Libby how well it goes when you give false or misleading statements during an investigation.

  He also alluded to the attempt by Eric Holder to make Kenneth Melson the fall guy for the Obama regime when asked if someone should be fired over this scandal:

We were thinking in terms that they were going to fire Melson,” Grassley said. “And I simply said that if they think letting one guy like that go is the solution to it, it can’t be, because we know that there’s a lot more people involved than Melson.”

“In fact, maybe after the questioning of Melson, we might find him less involved than a lot of other people

  In my opinion he is 100% right; there is no way that Kenneth Melson was the man who authorized this operation and to think otherwise is simply foolish and naive–or blatantly and conveniently ignorant–it requires the “willing suspension of disbelief” to quote Hillary Clinton when she was questioning General David Petraeus in front of the Congress. People should be fired because of this scandal, but that is only the beginning because we have dead Americans on our hands and Eric Holder and anyone else responsible for this operation should be held directly accountable for their actions and should be brought up on criminal charges. Eric Holder lied, people died.

  It appears as if Darrell Issa and Chuck Grassley are not going to let up in the near future; the Oversight Committee has scheduled a second round of hearings for next Tuesday and the noose is tightening around Eric Holder’s neck (am I still allowed to use that phrase?) and it shows no signs of loosening any time soon.
