The Obama regime moves to ban over the counter Asthma inhalers

September 23, 2011

During last night’s GOP debate several candidates targeted the EPA as a federal agency which has become out of control. Some candidates professed a desire to reign in the EPA, while others declared a desire to eliminate this agency altogether. One candidate–forgive me for I forget which candidate–used the example of the EPA moving to regulate dust as proof that the EPA is out of control, and that candidate is right, but I would like to offer further proof that the EPA needs to be stopped.

The EPA, with the help of the FDA, is in the process banning Asthma inhalers; Here is the story:

Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government’s latest attempt to protect the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.

The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.

But the switch to a greener inhaler will cost consumers more. Epinephrine inhalers are available via online retailers for around $20, whereas the alternatives, which contain the drug albuterol, range from $30 to $60.

The FDA has announced that at the end of the year people suffering from Asthma will no longer be able to purchase what Barack Obama once famously claimed were breathalyzers, the over the counter inhalers that many Asthma suffers rely on and this is because the EPA has decided that they are destroying the planet.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was always under the impression that people inhaled the medicine from these devices–hence the name, so how is it that these supposedly harmful CFCs make it into the atmoshpere?

ell, you probably already know what I think, but I will say it. I think that they are working towards even vitamins being doctor prescribed. First the cold medications and the ones you can get have limits, now the inhalers and will work their way towards the supplements. At that point, we will only have what is allowed and if we are deficient on anything, will have to go to the doctor and hope they let you have it. I think they think we are too stupid to self medicate, don’t they. The problem is, I have seen way too many seniors being over medicated from a doctor, but what do I know. This is just another little “nudge”, isn’t it? Besides the cost will go up, not only for the inhaler, but don’t forget the doctors office visit you will have to pay for. Now, as to the CFC’s we have such little effect on the ozone with what we do it is pitiful, unless you listen to Al Gore. I am going to draw the line if they try to take away my hairspray and they will try. I have my limits!!!!

I think you are probably right about the vitamins. It is only a matter of time before these are also taken off the counter as the feds look to gain even more control over our daily live. This will only serve to increase the costs of medications and supplements. And I thought that Obamacare was supposed to lower the costs of healthcare?!

Steve, this is an administration where the “Greenies” are in complete control. The simple truth is most of this crowd doesn’t care about individuals. There concern is just about their god “Mother Earth” I honestly believe they would all be happy if all humans were extinct(except them), for they are the keepers of the faith! The only faith they believe in is one they create in their own minds and one that fits their personal beliefs or right and wrong. A little humor to a serious topic just to expose the luntic radical environmentalist Tree Hugger

I agree Ron; global warming is a religion and those who worship at the alter of global warming are in control and they want to dictate to us their morality by forcing it upon us through regulation. I think the combination of government and religion has a name.

Tomorrow we’ll find out we have to ask permission to go to the bathroom. I’m getting awfully tired of these nannies.

I would like to laugh at your comment Jim, but I fear it is closer to the truth than I care to admit.

Let’s see now. This week we have had two examples of governmental knowingallness (I think I just made up a word) rearing it’s ugly heads. The Secretary of Agriculture tells us we are going to have to change our taste buds because it’s good for us and now this little piece of idiocy. What are they going to come up with next?

The words sounds, “regal” doesn’t it? A fitting word for The One. I LIKE salt, I have stocked up on Sea Salt, that will probably be the first to go. Apparently we don’t know what is good for us. Did Michelle have a dietary degree or are we just supposed to take her word that she knows what is best for us? The sooner they are out ouf OUR house, the sooner we can back to being us.

You only missed one word there. 🙂 I also would like to know what makes Michelle an expert on this subject. Why does she feel the need to tell up what we should and should not eat?

Banning a teensy bit of CFC holds higher priority than accessible medicine for asthmatics. This makes perfect sense for leftists, when you think about how millions have died from malaria, because banning DDT has a higher priority than human life.

    cheers

It is all about control, Linda! We know that and they know we know that, but they are still allowed to do it.
      Cheers, back at you,

You are right, this–and everything else this rogue regime does–is all about control. The more beholden we become to the federal government the more control they have over us.

I’m unemployed with no healthcare. I can not afford another emergency room visit. I have now been having an asthma attack for 5 days. I have no more time to try and jump through all their welfare hoops. I’m seriously considering robbing a pharmacy. I would have never thought I would become a thief but I absolutely refuse to just die to appease the tree huggers. May God forgive me for what I’m going to do and may all those who were part of this ban on primatene with no alternative burn in hell.
