US Drone attack kills American born terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki

September 30, 2011

By now you have most likely heard the news that one of the most wanted suspected terrorists was one of two Americans killed in a drone attack last night  in Yemen. His name was Anwar al-Awlaki and he was an American citizen who had become radicalized and was thought to be the brains behind the “underwear bomber” and the Fort Hood terrorist attack.

I happen to agree with this killing because al-Awlaki was a traitor to his country and we all know that the penalty for treason is death. I am happy that the Obama regime took this murderous bastard out, but I have to wonder how the left feels about this. After all, while running for president Barack Obama promised to show the world that America was a just and noble country by telling the world that terrorists caught fighting against America would be given constitutional rights under the United States constitution and would be given a trial by jury with representation as proof that we were better than the terrorists who have no problem beheading innocent journalists.

The left had no problem protesting against George W Bush, going so far as to call him a war criminal and the biggest terrorist in the world for his prosecution of the war on terror, yet here we have Barack Obama authorizing the killing of an American citizen before he has received his constitutional right of a trial by jury. If the left is to be consistent we should see protests and cries of “Obama is a war criminal” any minute now, but I don’t see that happening. Do you?

So far the only vocal critic on this issue has been a Republican, Ron Paul. When are the Democrats in the Congress who were so vocal in their anti-war rhetoric while George Bush was the president going to condemn this act?

People need to realize what’s going on. We haven’t become smarter, able to collect better intelligence or have better equipment for the troops to use. What’s happening is that Obama is paving the way for the Brotherhood to take over throughout the Middle East.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are no longer useful but their leaders can call up terrorists to kill those who would be the new kings – afterall, they expect to be kings, they earned it.

But Obama is working for the Muslim Brotherhood. Expect a few more of these successful strikes – which believe me I am grateful these sub humans are dead and welcome more of them going to hell. But I have no illusions about what’s going on and I’m right better than 98% of the time.

I am glad this scum is gone also, but Obama’s support of the Arab Spring is troubling when you realize who the rebels were and who is going to fill the void.

I don’t know if we technically we still have the right to issue a “wanted dead or alive” order but if we don’t , we should bring it back for just these kinds of animals. the world is now a slightly better place.

Last year Obama did sign a “kill or capture” order on this man with the CIA, this seems to be a “wanted dead or alive” order to me.

A very good question Harrison and Lou and I touched on it in a comment below. This in unprecedented water the president is now in and we know that the Tea Party has been branded terrorists by some in the Congress. How far does this new assassination mentallity go and where does it stop?

This is going to be a very touchy subject. On the one hand, a terrorist has been taken out, but on the other hand he was an American (Muslim). Wasn’t there also another American with him that was killed? Are we better off without them? Most surely. Does this open up the door for Domestic terrorist to also be on a presidential “hit list”? We know already that the Tea Party are terrorists, we have been told that. Will this give the ok for a TP member to be on the list? How about the vets that return home? Have they not been labeled as potential terrorists? Anyone disagreeing with this administration could be potential terrorists. This makes me nervous when lists are being made. There are “terrorists” and there are “terrorists”, will there be different levels? We need to tread lightly and really watch what is going on, it may not be as it appears on the surface.

Yes there was another American killed also and I agree that this could be a slippery slope because we already know about the deomestic terrorist list which Napolitano compiled which includes returning US vets and pro-life advocates.

Barbara, I think you are correct in your assessment. There seems to be an ulterior motive always hidden with this administration. Trust is not a word I can use with them. If this has happened, what are they hiding? I hate to have to feel that way, makes me uneasy, but I think there is something else we are not being told. Is this just one of their “feel good” moments of “we got the bad guys”? Is this supposed to show us how “presidential” Obama is? After referring to us in America, as soft? This must make him the all powerful leader now. Will it help his poll numbers? Sorry if I question the administrations every move.

It is interesting that Obama decided to kill this man and Osama when seems as if Osama could have been taken alive and would have information which we might be able to “convince” him to give up. It does make you wonder if there is something else going on here.

Just wondering about that “information” that could have been given up, if he had been captured might it have been something the president didn’t want us to know? Could it have been something that would make the administration look bad or change how we felt about the war? About Obama? I don’t want to appear nuts here, but you know we are told only what they think we need to know. That is what the MSM is for, now. Could Osama’s death have not happened entirely as we were told? Have you questioned all the conflicting stories we got on that one? I imagine this recent killing will have alot of conflict in it, as well. The web this administration is weaving is getting to be pretty big.

You know what Lou? I have to admit that thought crossed my mind as well. It is sad that we have such distrust of this regime, but they brought it on themselves.

Harrison, moral and ethical are not two words that I would apply to the president. Did he not tell students that ethics was not a class he did well in? Imagine that and yes, it blows the arguments all to hell!

This is getting to be where he has more and more control without the consent of Congress. If it is not something to become leary of, I don’t know what is. Harrison, horrible is one way to describe him, but plain evil is one I think is really starting to fit. To have that much power in one person, is, well, we know what that is. What is next? Your question of how far he will go Steve, I think we know the answer to that….as far as it takes. Have you noticed the drive-bys have not been around for a couple of days? Does this seem unusual to you?

This president has paassed quite a bit of regulations without the consent of the COngress and now he has authorized the killing of two American citizens. I shudder to think where he will go in the next year or so.
The drive bys simply cannot defend this attack so they remain silent.

Dude turn off the TV and back away from the MSM slowly. You should be murdered next as I think your a terrorist.

The fact that you believe EVERYTHING you see on TV is what scares me the most.

Have you seen any evidence that he was involved in this supposed crime? Not what you seen on TV, but real evidence you held in your hand? NO

Maybe we should lock you up indefinitely and murder you without a trial..

It’s assassination pure in simple. As long as they give it a new term suckers like yourself will buy it hook, line and sinker. FOOLS!

That’s exactly what your promoting… No wonder this country is in the toilet, just look at the amount of morons floating around…

The dumbing down of America has worked well as one needs to look no further then this blog to see the reclamations…

    any questions?

Wow, you are all over the place with your comment. At one point I thought you were FOR him being taken out, then for him NOT to be taken out. Then you attack the blogger(s) and start calling names, that is clear cut that YOU don’t know what the hell you are talking about and are on the attack. I doubt that many here WATCH much TV or listen to the MSM, but apparently you do. Did you really even read what all was written here? If you did, then I doubt you were able, in your small twisted mind, to see that most here are open to discussion on any given topic. No one attacks the others just because they might disagree. That is called being “mature”. When you are mature, you can agree to disagree and get on with things. It is someone like you that comes in and tries to stir the pot that is a real pain (in the ass), you need to move along and take it where others really want to hear your garbage.

Yes I am glad that he was killed, but the point of this post was to point out the double standard of the left on this issue. If you had bothered to read any of the comments I made you would see that I am very worried about where this could lead in the future because a dangerous precedent has been set. The Tea Party has been called terrorists by people on the left and it isn’t too far of a leap to question whether this sets up the possibility of an assassination of a political enemy of the president. If you are going to come here and bash me I only ask that you try to take what I write in context, and that would have been easier if you had simply read my comments to other posters. I don’t think that is too much to ask.
And for the record I don’t watch television and if you had read other posts of mine you would see that I am no fan of the MSM. Thanks for stopping by.

Steve, it boils down to him/her being a drive-by taking a cheap shot, nothing more. I doubt the person comes back. Most likely he/she finds different blogs and does this all night for fun. Someone needs to grow up! We have more important things to discuss, don’t we?

This sets a very dangerous precedence. How long before the federal government starts declaring patriots as being “terrorists” due to their opposition to the government stepping outside the Constitution. The rhetoric has already started. Napolitano and Holder spouting off about “lone wolf” terrorists. Listing vets, gun owners, Christians and constitutionalists as dangerous, possible terrorists. How long before the feds start executing patriots in raids (already started) and using drones as well on US soil. They’re already using them to “patrol” within our borders. The rhetoric is not accidental or coincidental. It’s a stepping stone. No POTUS should have the power to be judge, jury and executioner. No where in the Constitution is this power given to the POTUS.
I refer you to the 5th, 6th and 7th amendments of the Bill of Rights. You can decide which are applicable.

Brave and noble country… what horse shit. The Fifth Amendment states:

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

Nor be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. And note that this does not state “No American” it states “No person”.

Then, on top of this, they murdered Anwar al-Awlaki’s son while he was eating dinner with some friends because they were afraid that he would become a terrorist. They killed him without him even committing a crime. This is so sick. The American government is out of control and its citizens are still behaving like clay figurines that have just been brought to life and have are ignorant of the world surrounding them.

The world is not a better place due to the death of this man, it is worse. I mourn Anwar al-Awlaki’s death not because of the man but because of what they men who killed him have become. This is scary and feels more like Stalin’s Russia than the America I wanted to defend.

Two wings on the same bird of prey.
