Gunrunner: Federal agencies knew about Fast and Furious in 2009, but Eric Holder didn’t?

February 8, 2012

Eric Holder’s defense in sworn testimony about the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal has been this: The operation was conceived and carried out at lower levels in the Arizona ATF by rogue agents and that he–and the “Justice” Department–had nothing to do with, and was not aware that, guns were being allowed to walk into Mexico by the United States government.

But according to this article a former DEA official is making a claim that seems to contradict what Eric Holder is claiming is the truth about Operation Fast and Furious:

He now states that his agency and Immigration and Customs Enforcement were not only aware of the gunwalking plot, but that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were actively interdicting the plot, confiscating weapons the ATF was walking to Mexican narco-terrorists:

“In 2009, 2010, I became aware that ATF was walking guns into Mexico,” Coulson said. “I also learned that Homeland Security Investigations, then ICE, actually interceded on more than one occasion where they seized weapons at the ports of entry when they were heading southbound contrary to ATF’s plans.”

There was serious friction, Coulson claims, between ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and the ATF in Phoenix. When Coulson took the gun walking to his bosses in Phoenix, he was told the lead law enforcement official in Arizona — U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke — was already aware of it.

So the DEA, ICE, and DHS all knew about this operation and yet we are to believe that this was something that was localized to Arizona authorities unbeknownst to the “Justice” Department?

I would say Eric Holder’s defense is unravelling, but it wasn’t believable in the first place.

People are getting moved around to new positions, are pleading the 5th, or just plain out of the country and can’t come back. I guess we are supposed to just turn off the lights and lock the door on the way out, AG Holder is not going to admit fault.

No he is not going to admit fault and he has taken extraordinary measures to make sure it can’t be traced back to him. The most notable being the person (I forget his name right now) who was sent to the Middle East so that he couldn’t testify.

I know I always ask the same question, but when exactly are they going to indict this criminal? I mean how much evidence do they really need. It’s cleared he lied to congress…which is a felony.

It’s getting frustrating John, isn’t it? It seems like they have enough on him to indict him but they haven’t and I am beginning to wonder if the rumored deal between Boehner and Holder is true.

I thought we have the video of Holder bragging about it?

There is a video of Holder talking about this, why has that not made its way into these hearings?

What is going on with Boehner, Attack Holder like he was AG Mitchel during Watergate. Is some kind of fix going on here? 300+ dead Mexican and Americans and this is still a Kabouki two step? Gawd I wish SomeBody had some Cajones in the Republican Party. Eric Holder is Guilty of running guns across the International border with Mexico, and is guilty of war crimes under the UN Small Arms treaty that Hiliary promotes. Somebody HAS to go to Jail, or is found with a “self” inflicted gun shot to the head.

There is a rumor that Boehner has struck a deal with the “Justice” Department to blame some underlings and let Holder off the hook. I hope this is not true but it seems more and more likely.

We know how the game is played. Someone “lower” will take the hit, maybe go to prison for a short time (minimum security with all the fixins), and be set for life when they get out. They take care of their own, don’t they? It seems that honor has gone by the wayside with this bunch. I doubt they lose any sleep over the deaths. We know how they operate and they only have one goal in mind. That is to take down this country at all cost! Makes you sick that THIS is what we have in our White House. Also make me sick thinking that THIS is what people thought was the best this country had to offer to put IN our White House. Back to vetting and I do mean VETTING this time. We can’t afford another mistake, this should be a lesson to us. Disregard what I just said if you didn’t vote this bunch in, it was meant for those that did. I can sleep at night, knowing I didn’t have anything to do with it, but I still reap the rewards!!!!

We know that they do not care about the deaths because if they did they wouldn’t have started an operation which they had to have known would lead to deaths and violent crimes. But the end justifies the means and a few deaths–acceptable collateral damage–was acceptable if it meant instituting an assault weapons ban and the UN small arms treaty.
I hope that a few underlings don’t end up taking the fall for this criminal regime, but I fear that is exacty what is going to happen.

Will he plea as George H.W. Bush did that he was “out of the loop” and didn’t know what was going on? Likely.
