DOJ denies any knowledge of bribery within the department, even though there are indictments on the table
On February 2nd I wrote this post about two “Justice” Department prosecutors who had taken bribes and as of yet they have been unpunished by Eric Holder. This story broke on the very same day that Eric Holder was testifying in front of the Oversight Committee on another scandal his “Justice” Department is embroiled in–the deadly Operation Fast and Furious debacle–so it slipped under the radar.
Here is a little of the back story:
A U.S. Justice Department source has told The Daily Caller that at least two DOJ prosecutors accepted cash bribes from allegedly corrupt finance executives who were indicted under court seal within the past 13 months, but never arrested or prosecuted.
The sitting governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, his attorney general and an unspecified number of Virgin Islands legislators also accepted bribes, the source said, adding that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is aware prosecutors and elected officials were bribed and otherwise compromised, but has not held anyone accountable.
In a letter to Charles Grassley the “Justice” Department has denied any knowledge of the fact that two corrupt prosecutors have taken bribes. Much like Fast and Furious, Eric Holder is, conveniently, blissfully ignorant about what has been happening under his watch in the “Justice” Department.
These officials have already been indicted on bribery charges in a sealed indictment and yet Eric Holder has refused to act on this indictment and he has refused to hold these prosecutors accountable for their actions. The alleged crimes took place over a ten year period and you would think that the leading law enforcement official would want to see justice done in this case. After all, with this case dating back ten years it wouldn’t be an indictment of HIS “Justice” Department per say, but his refusal to prosecute these officials IS an indictment on his “Justice” Department. It is hard to believe that while these indictments exist that Eric Holder doesn’t know about their existence, so why hasn’t Eric Holder moved this case forward?
The DOJ never acted on the sealed indictments, which were the consequence of a lengthy criminal scheme involving bank fraud and other financial crimes. This, TheDC’s source said, was because Attorney General Eric Holder is embarrassed by the corruption that has plagued his DOJ internally
Eric Holder is embarrassed by how corrupt the “Justice” Department is and he doesn’t want to bring more light to the criminality of the “Justice” Department. He finds it more important to hide the corruption in his department than he finds it necessary to bring the criminals to justice because he feels it will reflect negatively on his department.
The notion that Eric Holder is unwilling to punish “Justice” Department officials for corruption shines a more negative light on his department than prosecuting those who broke the law would have. Eric Holder once called America a nation of cowards and I guess I would now have to agree with him. I only differ with him on where the cowards in America reside, for I feel it is he who is the real coward in this country.

So what becomes of the indictments if Holder doesn’t prosecute? Do indictments have a time limit? Even though it won’t go anywhere, I think the House should move to impeach Holder. Doing nothing is just not acceptable.

I don’t know the answer, but I would guess there is a statute of limitations. I would also guess that the statute would be longer than the time Holder has left in office–at least I hope so.

Embarrassed or not, Eric Holder has a responsibility to uphold the law. He continues to fail miserably in that regard.

Exactly Larry! If he is unwilling to do what is right it is time for him to step down and let someone else take over.

Holder seems not care a whit about what the Republicans or you and I think. However,
Regarding the statue of limitations.
Chapter 7, Paragraph E of the Federal Grand Jury rule on statues of limitations reads as follows:
Statute of Limitations
A properly pled charge must contain an allegation that the offense charged was formed or carried out, at least in part, within the jurisdiction of the federal district court where the indictment is filed and within the period of limitations for the offense involved. A typical jurisdiction and venue paragraph reads: “The conspiracy charged in this indictment was carried out, in part, within the __________ District of ________ within the five years preceding the return of this indictment.”
Also remember if these two DOJ prosecutors were working in concert then they can also probably be charged with a further conspiracy under the RICO Act.
Additionally any indictment is going to charge multiple crimes which will probably cover more wrong doings some of which may have longer statues of limitations.
My guess would be that if the Republicans get in office these two clowns will be taken away. I would further speculate that where there are more than one or two conspirators there are probably more. Just my opinion….WM

Thanks for that info William, so it looks as if these people will go free if Obama is reelected. Another reason to throw these bums out. The indictments are sealed, but I have no doubt that there are many more charges included in the indictment than just bribery.

I didn’t get to see any of his latest hearing, but caught a few clips. They indicated he was at his most arrogant self. He is stalling out this thing to run out the clock as William wrote.Now we know.
