Obamacare: The Obama regime claims healthcare reform was a bipartisan effort

  With the future of Obamacare in doubt as the Supreme Court debates the constitutionality of the healthcare reform law the Obama regime is now trying to claim that this legislation was a bipartisan effort. This is the spin coming from Deputy White House press Secretary Josh Earnest.

  How can it be possible that a bill which passed with NO Republican votes can be considered a bipartisan effort? The regime had to go all the way back to the debate over Hillarycare in 1994 to make this outlandish claim. Because the origins of the healthcare mandate–now being called the personal responsibility clause–can be traced back to Newt Gingrich that makes the current law a bipartisan effort. That is quite a stretch to say the least.

    Josh Earnest is also trying to make the claim that Obamacare is constitutional because the mandate–personal responsibility clause–was a conservative idea. Is this an admission that conservative ideas are always constitutional while liberal ideas might not always be constitutional? If that is the case, Josh Earnest is wrong because an unconstitutional law is unconstitutional no matter which party the clause originated within, and I have been quite hard on Newt Gingrich for his previous support of such a measure.

  But that is not what Josh Earnest is trying to accomplish here. Note the change in terminology from ‘healthcare mandate’ to ‘personal responsibility clause’, because that is important here. The idea of personal responsibility is an issue which is near and dear to the hearts of conservatives, so this is an attempt by the Obama regime to tie the Republicans and the notion of personal responsibility to Obamacare. 

  By attempting to tie the Republicans to the healthcare law, and by stating the fact that a healthcare mandate was the idea of Republicans, the Obama regime is trying to spread the blame around in the event that the Supreme Court strikes Obamacare down. While once the Democrats were proud of the fact they were able to push Obamacare through even with opposition from the Republicans they are now trying to tie the Republicans to the bill because they do not want all the blame to fall on Barack Obama and the Democrats in the upcoming election.

  Barack Obama and the Democrats own this issue, but now that it is under fire they are not as proud of this accomplishment as they once were and are trying to negate this issue moving forward if the law is struck down. There cannot be one American in this nation who believes that Republicans had any role whatsoever in passing this law, yet the Obama regime is once again unwilling to take responsibility of its actions.

  If Obamacare is upheld by the Supreme Court it will be interesting to see how quickly the regime reverses course and once again claims sole responsibility for passing this law.
