Gunrunner: Janet Napolitano may have perjured herself in front of the Congress

April 13, 2012

If this story is correct Eric Holder might not be the only member of the Obama regime who is likely guilty of perjury because Janet Napolitano may have also perjured herself when she testified in front of the Congress on Operation Fast and Furious.

Here is what Janet Napolitano claimed in her sworn testimony:

In her September testimony to a Senate committee, Napolitano told senators she knew nothing about Fast & Furious until after Terry was killed in a gunfight on the night of Dec. 14, 2010 with an AK-47 purchased at one of the gun stores that was one of the key retailers where federal agents actively let guns walk.

In the same month, the Napolitano told Rep. Jason E. Chaffetz (R-Utah) at a hearing held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that she never spoke to Holder about Fast & Furious.

Let’s take the second one first; according to one source there are five emails linking Janet Napolitano to Eric Holder which discuss Operation Fast and Furious and Brian Terry’s murder.

“When she says that [she] and Attorney General Eric Holder have not discussed it, that is a lie. That’s why they keep asking her those questions in the Judicial, Oversight, Homeland Security Committee hearings. They’ve asked her that same questions twice and she’s lied twice”

The source also makes the point that while Eric Holder might not have given her the details of the deadly operation Janet Napolitano allowed the guns to walk across the border her agency is charged with protecting. It seem to me she would have to know something if she was going to allow guns to leave the country in the hands of violent criminals. Right? This brings us back to the first part in the quotes above,  most likely she did know about Operation Fast and Furious:

Another source from the ATF confirmed to Pavlich that Napolitano was briefed regularly by an agent from another of her agencies, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE.
“There was an ICE agent assigned specifically to be the co-case agent of Fast & Furious. He had to [file] an ICE report that either mirrored or referenced every ATF report that was done,” the ATF source said.

It seems quite likely that Janet Napolitano may have perjured herself in front of the Congress and it seems quite likely that Darrell Issa already knows this to be the case. At this point I am beginning to lose my patience at what appears to be the lack of action on a scandal which could reach into the inner depths of the Obama regime, and  possibly be one of the biggest scandals in the history of the United States. What are we waiting for?

Losing patience? You are one of a handul convering this in any depth. We are more concerned with stay at home moms, and the GOP continues to bite on the social issues. Until they stop, we will get nowhere.

You are joking right? As a stay at home mom, I can take care of myself. Corruption, socialism, contempt for the Constitution, work on that. Stay at home moms don’t need anyone to tell them how hard they work.

You misunderstood me. I agree with you. But talking about this precludes us attacking Obama. Conservative Hideout has a post that explains it better than I.

“Good Cop, Bad Cop” OK, I get it, but to keep going after this issue, and skipping other issues is making us seem like we are attacking for the sake of attacking and not because these are really bad people. Gunrunner and Fast and Furious — we need to hold their feet to the fire on this.

Yeah, Bunker is on our side here. The MSM and the Democrats would rather we focus on social issues and the like because they don’t want this story in the front pages and the GOP is helping them along. These issues are important as well, but we cannot let the Obama regime get away with a scandal of this proportioni.

The lack of coverage this has received is frustrating. This is a huge scandal but the MSM is more interested in providing coverage for the Obama regime by focusing on social issues and the GOP keeps falling for this tactic.

Why isn’t Issa brining comtempt charges against Holder and Napolitano? I know there is no way to impeach these people but the Republicans need to keep this administration on the defensive. I think the “Good O’l Boy Club” is doing their thing.

It is frustrating because I had expected something would have happened by now. The Republicans seem to timid to really go after these people and you have to wonder in the end if they are willing to protect the status quo.

This country’s electorate attention span is so short I think that they are waiting until closer to the election so people won’t forget. Or maybe until we got down to a single Republican candidate so the focus can be on Obama and not a Republican fistfight.

You raise a great point. Politics today seem to be living in a soundbite world. Too many people form their opinions on 30 second commercials and are not paying attention to what is happening around them.

I want to echo what Chip said. I have to wonder if Issa isn’t waiting until closer to the election to blow the lid off Fast and Furious. That is exactly what the Democrats would do, if they were in his position. It is possible that he is taking a play out of their playbook.

LD, I guess that is the chance we have to take, but don’t you hate waiting? And, what if it doesn’t play out that way? What then? I sincerely hope there is a “plan B”, or we are in big trouble.

I am just salivating for the attacks to begin, and hope there is a plan. But iffy holding off. It has been almost 4 years, and I am sick to deathj of him..

I’m not saying it is a smart thing to do, but I do wonder if that isn’t what is happening. If it were me, I would nuke them with this now and make sure the media had no choice but to cover it. Then, I would make sure it is brought up at every opportunity, right through the election.

My thought is that you need to strike when you can, waiting only gives them time to change course. It seems the Republicans always take that “wait and see” attitude and I am afraid it is going to bite them in the butt. There comes a time when you have to be “not nice” and I think we are long overdo on that time. Agreed?

Personally, I think it is far past the time to take the gloves off. We need to realize we are going to be cast in a bad light in the media, no matter how we approach the Obama administration. We might as well get our money’s worth and put him and his actions on display for the entire country to see.

I agree Lou, the evidence seems to be there so the time to strike is now. I hope that the Republicans are not going to shy away from this fight.

I hope that is the reason for the delay Larry, and I hope it isn’t because they are going to let him slide on this issue.

This was an article about the NRA meeting in St. Louis that Darrell Issa was a speaker at. Maybe this gives us a bit of hope that F&F will not go by the wayside?

Ya, what Steve said, haha! I have been involved with weather along with medical EMS for years. We have always looked for better websites to help keep our county safe and that one above is a great interactive one. Along the bottom are circles of stuff you can bring up on the map, as well as across the top. Play with it.

Am I watching too many movies, or does it seem like EVERYONE is somehow afraid to stand up & do the right thing? Why can’t there be a real “Jack Ryan”? Or for that matter, a real “Mitch Rapp”? Anyway, “big Sis” will get out of it b/c she can just “play” dumb.

It does seem like nobody is willing to stand up and call these people out. Issa and Grassley are trying but it doesn’t seem like they have much support.

He should have at least been fired by now while awaiting charges and yet here we are one year later and still no justice has been done.
