Gunrunner: ATF official resigns after being named in Darrell Issa’s Congressional report on Fast and Furious

August 2, 2012

Earlier this week Darrell Issa released his Congressional report which named five people who were responsible for the Fast and Furious debacle and today we learned that an ATF official named in that report, William Hoover, has resigned. The remaining four should follow his lead and resign as well. When that happens it will be a good start, but it should only be the beginning.

When Barack Obama declared executive privilege and sealed the documents Darrell Issa has been requesting for over a year –which most likely indict Eric Holder and possibly Barack Obama–for all intents and purposes the path to Eric Holder was blocked for good. However, now that five officials have been named there is still a glimmer of hope because as these rats desert the ship maybe one of them will decide it is time to protect himself so the possibility remains that one of them will not be willing to take the fall for Eric Holder.

At this point our only hope is that one of these lawless individuals, either guided by conscience or a desire to protect himself, will flip on Eric Holder and tell Darrell Issa what is contained in those documents. It is now time for Darrell Issa to threaten these five individuals with civil lawsuits if they do not cooperate and I hope that just one of them will do the right thing and partially right a grievous wrong, anything less will be a miscarriage of justice.

It would be interesting to follow this ATF’s agents ‘resignation’ to see what Tropical Island he winds up on…hummm?

All five of the people named in this report have already been “reassigned” and I think it was in return for their silence, but now that the pressure will be on them I hope they crack. Of course they may accept one last sweetheart deal to disappear.

Each of these 5 men were promoted – by who? That question has to be answered and who is it that authorized all of this. We do not have all of the answers yet!

That one resignation is not going to fly as far as I’m concerned. Questions remain, should the people involved in fast & furious, right up to and including Holder and Obama, be charged criminally?

Yes they were and they clammed up after this, that is what Eric Holder thinks is justice but hopefully this will be enough for them to change their minds.

I guess are grasping at straws; but at this point I’ll take whatever I can get. It will only take one to crack and Holder will be toast.

One can only hope that someone in that group of men has a bit of pride left and knows that he should do the right thing. We know that Holder thinks he is home free, reassign the men, or give them a bonus and they won’t talk. Hopefully that will not hold true. Like you said, it takes only one to start singing to take the others down.

If Issa puts pressure on them with the threat of a civil suit I have to believe one of them will turn on Holder, but it is going to take pressure because they are not going to come forwad on their own.

While this is a good first step, Holder needs to get taken down before I’ll be happy.

I won’t be happy until charges are filed against him.

Harrison, it will take alot more than that to make me happy, but it sure would be a start. If nothing else, maybe it might make an impression on others that are following in his footsteps of corruption to rethink their direction in life????

I agree, it will take more than that but it sure is a good place to start.

Call me skeptical but as far as I’m concerned, odds are that these 5 men will soon end up with high-paying jobs, somewhere else in the Obama administration. Couldn’t believe you didn’t point that out ……

In my first post on this issue I did poiint out that all five of these men have already been “reassigned” by Eric Holder, and while he denies these were promotions it appears as if it was done in return for their silence. I should have repeated that here as well, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Holder tries to bribe them once again in the hopes they will continue to remain silent.

I meant somewhere else in the Obama Administration or in another “TYPE PAYOFF POSITION” with a high-paying job. Sorry I wasn’t more explicit. I’m from Chicago and very skeptical . . . .

Unless they are well protected, I’m sure they want to continue to breath. But they need to know they have a team, that we know that all it will take is getting them out of their positions to provide safety for themselves and their families. Right now I would wager they know this. There is safety in silence.

So true, they will have to decide whether they are most safe in spilling the beans or remaining silent, it is possible they have already been threatened by this corrupt individual.

Reblogged this on Cmblake6's Weblog and commented:
Of the 5, 1 resigned to go into hiding I’d bet, and the other 4 have been promoted and/or reassigned to silence them. They doubtlessly fear that if they don’t take what they can get, they won’t ever get anything again. If they knew they were protected, they’d probably be more willing to speak the truth. Guilt isn’t going to over ride survival.
