Open thread for Thursday, October 25th: Candidate edition

October 25, 2012

Here is the open thread for Thursday, October 25th; please feel free to leave links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues come up during the course of the day.

The election is now about a week and a half away so my musical selection will be ‘Candidate’ by Joy Division.

Oh, I don’t know what made me,
What gave me the right,
To mess with your values,
And change wrong to right.

It’s just second nature,
It’s what we’ve been shown,
We’re living by your rules,
That’s all that we know.

Unfortunately Ian Curtis committed suicide in 1980 so there is very little video of Joy Division with the exception of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and ‘She’s Lost Control’ so I am going to have to settle for an audio clip.

Enjoy and have a great day.

Nice choice! It may be what we have been shown but it is not all we know. Somewhere deep down inside we know that we know better.

Thank you and I agree, we still know we have the last say and now is the time to show it to those in charge.

NOMObama is “The Affirmative Action President.” He has ALWAYS been held to a lower standard when competing for every job he has had. That is why he is the POTUS and it is also why he may very well CONTINUE to be our POTUS for another term. Most voters are not voting for his qualities, they are voting either for his ideologies or his color, or both. Here is the URL for my post on the subject which explains it in a bit more detail:
