Open thread for Saturday, November 10th: This is your place to vent edition

November 10, 2012

Because I posted the weekday edition of the open thread on Tuesday instead of on Thursday I have decided to post the weekend edition on Saturday instead of Sunday this week. This is your place to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever topics come up throughout the day.

Many of you are still reeling from the election results so I have decided to make this your official place to vent and to rant about the results. I have decided that because there is nothing we can do about the results it is time to move on, so while I will answer comments on this post until the next open thread on Thursday I will stop answering comments on my two election related posts in order to focus on “moving forward.”

For the musical selection of the day I decided that if the theme was ranting against the government the obvious selection would be a classic punk rock song from back in the day.

When you think original punk rock you have to think about the Sex Pistols, so that is precisely what I have done. So what is the song I chose to showcase? When thinking Sex Pistols one naturally remembers ‘Anarchy in the UK’ or ‘God Save the Queen’ but I have decided to go in a different direction.

Because of the stupid and moronic statements of two Republican senatorial candidates in regard to rape and abortion the Republicans lost whatever chance they might have had at winning control of the Senate so I have decided to feature what is probably the most raw, in your face, unabashedly pro-life and anti-abortion anthem ever written.

If you are not familiar with the song please be advised that the lyrics are very graphic and several “F-Bombs” are included. If you are going to punk out, go all the way right? I decided to post a more recent reincarnation of the Sex Pistols due to the better audio and video quality.

Here is “Bodies” by the Sex Pistols:

Hi Steve. No problem, thanks for this open thread. All here seems to be American, I’m not.
But it looks like this world is changing, and Westerners become squeeze into the same box.
I don’t wish to be American have enough with my own. But we are getting more and more related that we like it or not.
Because Europe “EUSSR” become more of a reality..and now with a four years ahead things gonna move even faster…It is like many people outside the US did NEED Obama in Office to bring up their own Agenda.

This is same for the Middle East…
For The United Nations.. Free Speech, Islamophobia.. and Very Unfortunately Crimes Against Humanity..in the sense that some will be condemned while other WILL BE put aside like it has never happen…!
And for that we need people TO SPEAK OUT…while they still can about those things.
In New York Usa and in Geneva Switzerland, The UN has become a platform for excusing all sort of crimes. And The USA still get an Impact there..for now…and It should be use Right Now.

You have the Benghazi Story enough to put a President or some of his staff in quiet a trouble..you have also Hilary Clinton.. Huma Adebin.. CAIR and all the Implication
Until The US Army..and that should really bring up voices! Of Course they might say you have an affair somewhere..you betrayed your family, while others Betrayed THE WHOLE COUNTRY! Who’s Bad could be my next song..but I spare you lol..

The song above was also by the Sex Pistols with the Title : Pretty Vacant.. it’s getting old but the revolt back then should have taken more seriously.. as for too long things be taken for granted, and now we have to fight…for our right.. for….Freedom !

        Wil. Swiss Citizen 😉
        God Bless America !

Yeah, it seems we are all headed down the same path to worldwide socialism under the head of the United Nations and Barack Obama is fully on board with this idea. You are right, we must speak out against this as loudly and for as long as we can.
I know that Sex Pistols song well!

The. Dem’s have women’s ‘ rights, gay rights and abortion with free contraceptives bringing up the rear (pun intended). The Republican Party needs artificial issues of their own so how about men’s rights with unlimited mastrabation and government provided handi-wipes. If they can follow that up with a promise to lower the age of puberty the playing field should even up.

As “odd” as it sounds, it could not be any worse than what the Dems have. However, I do have to wonder about your state of mind at the moment!

I stole ” lower the age of puberty” from Pat Paulson’s 1968 mock presidential candidacy running under the banner of The Birthday Party.

Guys, you have got to come by my place and see what the troll, Ema, had to say. Read her original comment and my reply and her fainal reply. She really believes that we conservatives are going to see in a few years how wrong we were about Obama and we are going to be glad he won reelection because it was a victory for “all” Americans. Un-freaking believable!!!

There is more horrible news breaking now. Congressman Allen West, one of our finest patriots has been waiting for the final count. Florida just certified the drunken Patrick Murphy to replace West.

I am sickened. Congressman West is the finest patriot in Congress. He has worked so hard, and confronted so many issues head on that others would not dare touch.

His replacement, Patrick Murphy, was busted in a drunken brawl the night West was preparing his troops to deploy to Iraq. THAT is the difference. THAT is what America is voting for these days. I am sickened.

What is more, the numbers indicate voter fraud again: The turnout was 113% in St. Lucie county. This news is devasting. I don’t know what we will do without West.

Wonderful news! Thanks so much for sharing it!

By the way, unless you’re prepared to swear before God and everyone here that you never took a drink while American troops in uniform were in harm’s way, you have no right to criticize Murphy for going a bit overboard. Governor Romney has that right – I doubt anyone here does. What was it Jesus said? Oh, yeah – “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone . . .”

Take good care, and may God bless us all!

      TGY

PS – I read some of the coverage about the turnout, and to tell the truth, I don’t understand it. I downloaded a copy of the interim report from St. Lucie County, and a column market “turnout” on the first few pages shows higher figures, across the board, than that headed “Registered Voters.” To be precise, the report lists 175,554 registered voters, 247,713 “cards cast,”, for a turnout of 141.10%.

Intrigued, I checked to see the vote totals for actual candidates:

      West 52,625
      Murphy 65,896

      Total 118,521

Okay, so that’s not all that unreasonable, far lower than the registered voters

I checked the Presidential numbers as well:

      Romney 56,125
      Obama 66,246

      Total 122,371

Again, far below the number of registered voters, and reasonable – many people go to the polls to vote only for the top of the ticket.

I have a feeling that “Cards Cast” isn’t the same as “ballots cast,” especially since nobody in authority in Florida seems to thing there’s anything abnormal about more cards cast than registered voters. Unfortunately, there isn’t any kind of legend or explanation of terms in the report, which I found at http://www.slcelections.com/Pdf%20Docs/2012%20General/GEMS%20SOVC%20REPORT.pdf

So this whole alleged voter fraud thing may be just a tempest in a teapot, because we know that the numbers that really matter are those cast for each candidate, and when they’re totaled up, the sum is far fewer than the number of registered voters.

Again, take good care, and may God bless us all!

      TGY

With all do respect I will state my opinion on Murphy as I see fit. My family has served in this country’s military since the French and Indian War through the American Revolution, and both World Wars. My father was one of the very few who walked out of the Chosen Resevoir massacre during the Korean war. So I don’t tell me what I do or do not have a right to say when it comes to our troops. I will assess Murphy based on his merits, and he is trash. And I will not swear to God over anything, it is wrong to do so. Murphy is liberal scum. And he and his kind are the problem in this country. The difference between he and West is as I said.

Out of respect for Steve and this website, I will leave at that.

But before I leave it at that I will also add this: I remember watching my father also leave for his tour of duty in the Nam. My mother was a soldier in the Army as well. I was born on an Army base, and my husband is a retired Colonel. So step off, you know not where you tred.

One last point on the improbable turnout in St. Ludie County, which was reported around 135%. The ballot in some Florida counties this year was so long that they had to split it between two ballot cards (already, you can see where this is headed). Most voters used both cards and turned them in. Thus, one voter would cast two cards, which is why the “Cards cast” column could be larger than the “registered voters” column and not even raise an eyebrow among the election officials in Florida.

That said, I think it was highly irresponsible of whoever first started howling about voter fraud in St. Lucie County to write and post material about which he or she clearly knew nothing.

Take good care, and may God bless us all!

The worst part of this Allen West story is the fact that the Republicans redistricted him into a more liberal district. The good ole boys in the Republican party didn’t like the fact he was making waves so they did what they had to do to rid themselves of him.

Yes, they did redistrict him. Also, a massive slander campaign was levied against him backed by money from Soros. It is sad, but I don’t think it’s over. There is a good chance he can prevail in a voter fraud lawsuit based on the numbers.

Up early, we’re goin’ fishin so to speak around here this morning. I was distracted by the nonsense above so I neglected to say “why” this is such bad news. West is not my Congressman, I do not live in his district. But he is great asset in our Congress. And the reason the loss is so great is simply this: West is an expert on Jihadist activities, and military strategy. He also advocates for veterans in Congress, strongly opposes the insane cuts to our military. And he hits back very hard on issues like the Muslim Brotherhood, gays in the military, and vile liberals like Wasserman Shultz.

He had a lot of gays in his district before his boundary line changed so I’m not sure about now. The point is, he has angered many gay people, because of his stance on the jihad and the Musllm Brotherhood, liberals like to call him an “Islamaphobe” because they are too stupid to know the truth about the Muslim Brotherhood.

And the other angry camp are liberal trash, especially women, who support the tramp Debbie Wasserman Shultz. West openly called her out as “vile without honor” because she is the DNC attack poodle, and everytime her lips move, she lies.

It is folks from these three camps who are thrilled to see him go and fought the hardest and cheered the loudest to make it happen.

As for me, I would much rather have an experienced and capable highly decorated war veteran who can handle both the Jihad and trashy liberals, instead of a drunk inexperienced kid who is not even yet thirty with a criminal record in our Congress.

Soros won big time when he took out West. And Murphy is a rich spoiled snotty kid who got there on his Daddy’s money. But if I know West, we have not seen the last of him. And I think his biggest enemies are liberals, not republicans. Though as you said, some RINO’s were troubled by his boldness. Okay, ’nuff said, I’m off to get coffee. Daylight’s heading this way it’s veterans day, and I have to get stuff done for a suprise for my husband.

        Have a great day all.

West was probably the left’s number one target in this election and they managed to take him out. There is no doubt that the left was very fearful about his political future and didn’t want him hanging around. I hope that we hear more from this great patriot in the future and I think we will.

Hi Steve, just a quick note to say thank you, I sincerely appreciate it, I am very honored that you added me to your roll. And not to flog a dead horse, but the good news is West has very good grounds to pursue legal action, and has put out a statement that he will do so. Apologies for the insanity I brought to your thread by bringing him up. Everytime his name is mentioned, liberals go nuts. They hate him. He is a big threat to them. Okay, many thanks again. Next time I will behave and ignore when need be.

But he can handle himself and has no problem with a good debate on the issues. We rarely agree but he is always welcome here. He is opinionated, as am I, and I enjoy the back and forth we have on occasion.

On his way to deliver his Gettysburg Address President Lincoln said, paraphrasing, “Given the truth the American people can be counted on to make the right choice in a crisis.” He was wrong.
