Open thread for Sunday, November 25th: Black Celebration edition

November 25, 2012

Here is the open thread for Sunday, November 25th: Please feel free to leave links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever might come up during the day.

As you might have heard, last Friday was Black Friday–the biggest shopping day of the year–and once again we saw images of some of the gimme crowd who feels they are more entitled to what is in the store than the other people in line act like animals because they feel somebody ahead of them is going to get something they won’t–and dammit, they are entitled to what they want.

Every time I see these images I can’t help but think of the mindset which has been taught to these people in the schools and the lessons they learned through government.

Anyway…..I thought I would celebrate Black Friday by posting a song by the band ‘Depeche Mode’ entitled Black Celebration. This is a live video from 1986, enjoy.

I don’t know what to think anymore, Steve. The longer I live, the less respect I have for mankind. Just a quick glance at history and to think about the incredible numbers of humans murdered by other humans; the incredible brutality that some humans are capable of is something i can’t get my little mind around. We humans are supposedlythe only animal with the ability to reasonand yet so few use that ability. I can forgiveone for using reason badly. After all, I have been quilty of that myself many times. But, to not use this God given gift at all, is unforgivable

Many of the people who act this way on black Friday are the same people who complain about corporate greed, yet by acting this way they expose the greed within themselves and show that they are really no better than the people they complain about.

GOD is going to bring those murdered and killed people back, including my dad and they are going to KICK ASS on the culprits!!! I’m looking forward to that.

Alot of people have lost their ability to be “polite”, it seems. I have decided to not go out into the rush of what used to be happy people, but are now changed to, what I am not sure. I don’t see much holiday cheer now and what I do see is just people wanting to get thru the holidays and be done with them. I guess that goes along with the “bummed” feeling I was referring to in an earlier post. I guess I fit in the catagory of just getting thru the season and moving on and that is not like me, either. This should be a magical time of year and it just is NOT. Could an election cause all of this? I see alot of angry people fighting on the news and in the papers, what has happened to us????

This isn’t all related to the election, this animalistic behavior has been happening for a few years now as the urge to have the latest technology has grown. However I do think that the entitlement mentality that politicians have condoned over the years is at play here. That and the unnreligiousizing (is that a word?) of Christmas and the general removal of God from almost even being allowed mention in public have led us to this state.

No need to be sorry, it is good to see that people are not going to back down simply because they will be attacked as racists if we oppose the president’s policies.

Since we are morphing into a judgemental free society, anything goes. We are becoming no better than the invaders who came here from places without plumbing so they shit on the floor. Standing in line is the invention of society, a way to keep order but since we shouldn’t judge those who push us out of the way to get in front if us how about no more lines and a free for all in retail stores.this behavior will be a primer for the coming five year plans and the anticipated shortages of everything from Twinkies to Health Care.
