With the fiscal cliff averted 77% of Americans will face a tax increase
As we all know, yesterday the Congress swept in and saved the day by coming to an agreement to avert the fiscal cliff and the tax increases which almost every American would have to pay if we fell over the cliff and remained there.
Barack Obama went on television and proclaimed that this deal kept taxes from increasing on 98% of Americans and 97% of small businesses while Republicans who supported the deal justified it using the same measuring stick.
And that would be great if it were true, but it is not as we can see in this article.
It is true that the Bush era tax cuts will remain in place, but what neither side wants to mention is the fact that the payroll tax cut which Barack Obama signed during his first term was allowed to expire. According to the Tax Policy Center this means that taxes will actually rise on 71% of all American households. That is quite different than the numbers supporters of this legislation are touting, isn’t it?
On top of that, 80% of households earning between $50,000 and $200,000 will face tax increases with the average increase being $1,635 a year. And this is considered a victory for the middle class? Oh, and it adds an additional $4 trillion to the debt, just in case you were wondering.

How about those who voted for the O man and his promise of higher taxes pay higher taxes while we who voted against the O man and his promise of higher taxes just shoot ourselves in the foot.

Peter, remember the 2% was part of the stimulus passed by Democrats and signed by O. It was a tax cut that went away, and now we go back to where we were 2 years ago or so.
I would rather keep it in place and tax the folks that are hoarding billions upon billions and paying a rate 1/3 of what I and probably you pay yourself.
Maybe we could work on cutting the 800 billion in tax cuts/breaks we hand out every year.

Well, I am not intimidated, whether on the phone, the ‘net or in person, I told him what I thought about his YEA and what I planned to do in regards to his YEA…
Most of the Congressmen in my part of Texas are Conservatives and voted against this Obama bamboozle, Sam Johnson, my current Rep, Joe Barton, Kenny Marchant, Jeb Hensarling, Ralph Hall and Louie Gomert all voted NAY, as well they should! These gents are Representatives from this area of Texas and are fine, upstanding Congressmen.
I asked Sessions WHY then, if this Obama BS was SO good, did the above named Reps vote against it..
His answer: “They took the easy way out Fred…”
I am DONE with Mr. Pete Sessions, thank God he’s a 2 year term, makes getting rid of him, and others like him a lot easier..

I am luckier than you Fred. Since I live in New Jersey, even though my father was from Beaumont, TX, I don’t have to worry who voted for whom or what because pretty much all congressional representatives as well as Senators from the Garbage-I mean Garden State are a bunch of rat finks I would never vote for anyway.

It must be so frustrating to know that your vote rarely matters. Here in New Hampshire we have ups and downs, while my vote didn’t matter this year in 2010 it did. It feels good to win once in awhile, I just wish it would happen more often.

Yep, the wealthy still have their 8 to 10 trillion in the tax havens. So they have to pay a little more on their income, like the rest of us. So what. They have already stole everything they will ever need and hidden it away. Untaxed. I don’t see any politician saying hey, filthy rich folks, why don’t you pay some of the 50 trillion you have “extracted” from our families back into the treasury in the form of a wealth tax. It’s not like hoarding all that loot is going to “create jobs” (in this country) or anything….. I wouldn’t mind paying a little more, as long as the hoarders pay a lot more. I am already at 54.9% of my income going to withholding. Maybe the Mr. 13.9% Romneys of this world could pay what I pay for a change. The budget would be balanced, and we could keep our entire war machine intact. We wouldn’t even have to take one single senior’s pills away!
rjjrdq is right. We are fools. The poor and the middle class are paying half our nation’s bills, and the rest is borrowed. The folks that make all the money don’t pay squat, compared to how much they make. 93% of the recovery went to the top 1%.

I have something good and something bad to say, I will start out by telling you we are having another Grandson, he has all his body parts and looks very healthy in the ultrasound, we are thankful for that!
Now, let me tell you about the letter we received from the retirement insurance…right now since my husband retired in June from a BIG company and has Teamsters (Chicago) union pension. We have been paying $50 for the both of us on insurance coverage, a month..so Quarterly it is $150. Imagine my suprise, with this letter that we are being socked with a $495, a month, coverage from now on. I was told that the collective bargaining will expire the end of July, so as of Aug. 1st we will be paying $1485 quarterly…correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that a 1,000% increase? We were told when I called that we all have to share “equally” in the increased cost,,,is that the redistribution kicking in? I was told it has NOTHING to do with Obamacare kicking in,,,hahaha! I told the nice lady she better open her eyes, because this is only the beginning. I am not sure about you, but after they took most of our savings a couple years ago and now want $445 more for the coverage per month than we have been paying. we are about tapped out. What is next, I mean this is only the 3rd!!!!!! I can guarantee that the welfare recepients are not going to be inconvienced in anything. Oh, one more thing, i asked if we could not pay this excessive amount??? She said we would be terminated and have to find our own insurance…hmmmm. Welcome to the NEW AMERICA. Sorry, but I am pissed and happy on the same day…what a world!!!! And to you LIBS, do NOT bother to post about this, I do not CARE to hear anything you have to say that will justify this mess other than if you admit it is OBAMA pulling this and his administration.

Congrats on the new grandson, I am glad to hear all is well. As for these increases it is hard to believe Obamacare has nothing to do with it at all. I hate to say this, but this is as good as it gets, it is all downhill from here. Obamacare isn’t even fully implemented yet.
