Nancy Pelosi claims the federal government doesn’t have a spending problem
Nancy Pelosi appeared on Fox News Sunday to discuss the issue of sequester and she echoed the words of Barack Obama when he was negotiating with John Boehner over the fiscal cliff when she declared that America does not have a spending problem.
The federal government spends more money than it takes in so we are forced to either print or borrow more money–a practice Barack Obama once called unpatriotic when it was President Bush who was the irresponsible one–and yet Nancy Pelosi doesn’t think we have a spending problem?
So what then would Nancy Pelosi think the problem is? It is a “budget defect problem.” In other words; spending is fine, we just need more money and we all know what that means, don’t we?
I think we all can see where this is going: Barack Obama and the Democrat leaders have no intention of cutting any spending in the sequester negotiations, instead opting for more tax increases to pay for their irresponsible spending.
It is clear to me that Barack Obama and the Democrats have no intention of negotiating with the Republicans and why should they when John Boehner and the Republican leadership have caved into Barack Obama at every turn in the past?
At this point the Republicans should walk away from the table and let the sequester take place. Explain to the American people that sequester was the deal that Barack Obama originally wanted and lay the blame for the cuts at his feet. It is true that the media will cover for Barack Obama but what other choice do they have at this point? They are going to lose either way so what difference does it make?

I don’t personally have a problem with the sequester, because I think the Defense budget is paticularly bloated, and no one ever seems to want to reduce it significantly. But I don’t think the elected members from either party agree with me. They all appear to want to avoid the sequester.

The sequester is the very best deal the Republicans could hope to get out of Obama. It was his plan. Let him explain how the Republicans forced it on him.

Exactly Jim, while Obama is claiming this deal will hurt the “recovery” he is the one that advocated it so I say give him what he wanted.

I guess I didn’t look at it that way. 🙂

Well, if you want to play semantics, Pelosi is right. The government doesn’t have a spending problem. They are quite adept at it.

I watched the short segment of the interview where Pelosi made these incredible statements. (I can’t stand much of her.) I still can’t believe she would get on national TV and say something so far off base and ignorant. If she truly believes what she said, then we are surely in much worse shape than I could imagine.

Texas Fred is right, she really does believe this and that is why it is no use trying to negotiate with these people any longer.
