Obamacare: California faces a doctor shortage because of the healthcare mandate
According to this article California will shortly be facing a doctor shortage as a result of the healthcare mandate.
We’re going to be mandating that every single person in this state have insurance,” said state Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina), chairman of the Senate Health Committee and leader of the effort to expand professional boundaries. “What good is it if they are going to have a health insurance card but no access to doctors?
(How many of these people are illegal aliens?) Because of this shortage California is beginning to debate the idea of allowing people who are not physicians to begin providing healthcare. Opponents of this proposal claim it will only serve to drive up costs and reduce the quality of healthcare:
Doctors say giving non-physicians more authority and autonomy could jeopardize patient safety. It could also drive up costs, because those workers, who have less medical education and training, tend to order more tests and prescribe more antibiotics, they said.
I can only see one other way to cope with this problem and that would be letting the government decide who gets what treatment–rationing–and that option is not all that appealing, is it?
Welcome to the world of Obamacare, isn’t it wonderful?

That’s progress? Non-professional health care providers.? I guess anyone can hang the witch doctor sign and the benevolent government will pay for their services.

We are entering the Soviet Zone. Soon the Government will mandate that certain amounts of students study medicine. Wait for the Five Year Plan, government will solve all the problems. That it made!

Yep, it is only a matter of time before the government orders people to study medicine to make up for those who decide to opt for a different profession.

The little known secret is that for all of these nurse practioners and Physician Assistants, a Physcian has to stand behind them legally for their decisions. Thus watch the malpractice insurance premiums skyrocket for the Docs who are assigned to “back up” the decision of they provode.

I have read about this before, doctors simply cannot afford to take on new Medicare patients and this is all part of the plan.

Ah, the realities of Obamacare are raising their ugly heads. So much for making healthcare more affordable in America.

Obamacare did nothing to address cost and that is quite ironic considering the official name is the Affordable care Act.

Funny how that hasn’t worked out so well. Methinks they knew what would happen from the beginning.

This was all part of the plan, in my opinion, to drive people into a single payer system.
