Government ammo purchases lead to national shortage and a doubling of price
There are only three possible explanations that I can come up with for the federal government’s large ammo buys: One; they are preparing for an insurrection and riots when Barack Obama achieves his goal of crashing the United States economy. Two; they are purposely trying to create a shortage of ammo because they know gun control legislation is doomed to fail and they feel this is the next best option. If people own guns but cannot buy ammo–either because it is unavailable or too expensive–for their guns then their guns are rendered useless. Or three; all of the above.
I happen to believe it is all of the above. But regardless of my belief one thing is certain; the Obama regime is accomplishing its goal of removing ammunition from the hands of the American people.
The government’s ammo purchases have led to a shortage of ammunition which has left law abiding gun owners searching desperately for ammunition, and this has led to a doubling of price.
A nationwide shortage of ammunition has caught the attention of valley gun enthusiasts leaving many frustrated.
Some are turning to traveling gun shows to stock up on bullets.
Visalia Mayor Amy Shuklian says, “Even the 22 ammo, which used to be junk and cheap you can’t even get that anymore.”
Mayor Amy Shuklian, is a gun enthusiast herself. She says the nationwide shortage of ammo, has left her and others fed up, and vendors know it.
Mitch McKinlay is with the Rocky Mountain Gun Show.
Mitch says, “It’s going crazy we’ve just seen a quadruple of the amount of people, everyone wants to stock up on the ammo.”
The first article I linked to attributes this run on ammo on their belief that citizens fear the government is either going to ban guns or tax ammo, and that may be a part of the reason, but it fails to take into account the shortage caused by the government buying billions of rounds of ammunition thereby taking it off the shelves. This should not be discounted as part of the problem.
And this of course has led to a steep increase in the price:
His best seller right now is .22LR caliber. Gun owners like to shoot this caliber because it is typically a cheaper round and also optimal for target shooting, known as “plinking”
A box containing 500 rounds of .22LR was selling for approximately $20/box back in December. Today, Mr. Hyatt tells me he is selling the same box for $49. This represents a 145 percent increase in price.
This has led to ammunition rationing, but of course this is all part of Barack Obama’s Plan B in regards to usurping the second amendment. Barack Obama may lose in his radical fight against gun control but he has been very successful at stealthily implementing ammunition control through supply and demand by removing the supple and driving up the demand.

There is another possibility that may explain a part of it.
Maybe Americans are buying ammo in record amounts, and this, coupled with the Federal ammmo grab, is leaving ammo manufacturers unable to keep up. With this maybe being a short term phenomenon, they may not be adding additional workers or lines, but are just having their existing workers work some overtime.

If the Bolsheviks can hire the drug gangs now operating in every major city and most smaller city’s in the country, hire them as enforcers, this will go a long way towards neutralizing we rebels. Sound far fetched, maybe not. The criminal enterprises know which side their bread is buttered on.

Obama’s unopposed, methodical and incremental disarming of america is beyond even Orwell, Huxley, Rand. When the rhetorical question is asked, “If Castro was so bad why was there no armed rebellion against him for over 50 years?” The simple answer is that he confiscated all the guns. Since the majority of Americans get their history lessons from Oliver Stone movies there is an almost complete unawareness of history and the ramifications that result from forgetting history. The juxtaposition of feckless, self serving, traitorous politicians and a goal oriented president whose goal is to bring down America, not by stealth but by continuously poking us in the eye with a stick while doing so, is the stuff novels are made of. The overwhelming ignorance of the american people along with a corrupt and fawning star struck press are hand in hand complicit in allowing this anti-american rat fink occupier of the White House to demigog and make into an immediate crises,which only a caring central givernment can solve, every issue before us. Allen Drury came closest to touching on the overwhelming corruption in today’s Washington. As I come to the end of my rant here’s wishing everyone a happy spring Sunday: I wouldn’t want to violate the sensitivities anyone offended by the word Easter.

From what I understand, DHS was asked to explain that large purchase of ammunition. The response was that it was an open purchase order for “up to” 4 billion rounds (or whatever the exact figure was) to meet agency needs for the next few years. Again according to my understanding, this ammunition is distributed to scores of different agencies and departments within DHS’ jurisdiction, and is used for training and practice.

Nobody uses hollow point bullets for target practice, and hollow point bullets are banned under the Geneva convention anyway, so why are they really buying them?

I’ve read their reaoning before but do tou really think 295 special agents need almost 2 billion rounds? There is no doubt in my mind that they are buying as much as they can to create a shortage.

Right on Steve. I was a law enforcement officer for several years. I carried hollow points on duty for one purpose – to kill if need be. Our store shelves are empty. 9mm and 40 cal are nowhere to be found. I hope someone is looking into this in a serious manner. I don’t trust Obama and his cronies whatsoever. I am prepared for whatever comes our way like many of my neighbors – we have a plan.

That is what they are designed to do Mike, it is not believable that they are using these for target practice unless they are doing it to destroy the ammo and create a shortage.

Look at the bright side Steve, if these are the same guys who ran the kash for klunkers program it will be a complete flop and the government will lose hundreds of millions of dollars leaving no money for more Obama girls vacations.
