Newly released emails show that Lois Lerner, and the IRS, specifically targeted Tea Party groups
We all remember that day when Lois Lerner appeared before the Congress to testify on the IRS’s targeting scandal and promptly pleaded the fifth while claiming she did nothing wrong. While pleading the fifth is her Constitutional right it left many people wondering if she was hiding something–myself included.
Soon afterward evidence began to emerge that Lois Lerner was actually feeling pressure from above to “do something” about the Citizens United ruling. In other words; do something to stifle the influence of conservative groups before the election.
Now, according to this story, newly released emails may prove that Lois Lerner did in fact specifically target Tea party groups:
Newly released emails show that Lois G. Lerner, the woman at the center of the IRS scandal over special scrutiny of conservative groups’ applications for tax-exempt status, specifically targeted tea party applications and directed they be held up in 2011 in order to come up with an agency policy.
The email, released by a House committee investigating the IRS, seems to counter Democrats’ arguments that tea party groups weren’t specifically targeted.
“Tea Party Matter very dangerous,” Ms. Lerner said in the 2011 email, saying that those applications could end up being the “vehicle to go to court” to get more clarity on a 2010 Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance rules.
She apparently felt that by delaying Tea Party applications she could somehow get the Supreme Court to revisit its decision under the guise of “getting clarification on the ruling, with the (convenient) added bonus of delaying these applications until after the election. And if that didn’t work there is always the Federal Elections Commission:
“Perhaps the FEC will save the day”
In light of these revelations I really do not think there are any questions to be asked in regards to what was going on within the IRS–they were targeting conservative groups in an effort to stifle fundraising–the only question which remains is this: what the hell is the Congress going to do about it, if anything?
I honestly do not understznd why she is not behind bars by now.

Congress will do the same as they have on every other Obama outrage – nothing. And when Obamacare takes effect these same IRS people will be making decisions about our healthcare. But I’m sure they won’t cause problems for conservatives and their doctors. Nah. Not a chance.

Yeah, I am sure they will be fair and balanced…..yeah, right. Sadly, you are right about the Congress; they will do nothing at all.

She is on paid leave, right? Or did they allow her back now? They take a tax payer paid vacation and then quietly slip back into position, no questions asked, it seems. In any case, she is not out any money and once things get forgotten like they seem to always do, she will move on to a bigger and better job. Not that she will be qualified, but she is a “team player” and that has to be rewarded. Congress will only go so far on the questioning, it looks good, up front, but really serves no purpose other than cheap entertainment. How many times did we think the questioning on F&F was going somewhere only to be burned over and over again? Any of the crap Obama and Administration have pulled always comes out with hope of someone being held responsible, but then it just dies out because another “problem” surfaces. You think they are doing this on purpose? I do!
