Washington DC mayor confronts Harry Reid over the government shutdown

October 9, 2013

Is it possible that we are beginning to see the first cracks emerge in the Democrats refusal to fund the government and delay the healthcare exchanges?

First Jon Stewart confronted Kathleen Sebelius over the Obamacare exchanges and the exceptions granted to certain people in the ruling class. He did this not because he wants Obamacare repealed or delayed, but rather because he wants a total government takeover of the healthcare system, so I kind of wrote this off. This is going to be the Democrat’s defense when pressured on the failure of the exchange website: It wouldn’t be this bad if we got the single-payer system we wanted. That’s right, their answer will be more government to fix a problem the government created.

But then Wolf Blitzer came out and stated that the Democrats should have accepted the Republican proposal to delay the healthcare exchanges:

“Yeah. If they had three years to get this ready, if they weren’t fully ready, they should accept the advice that a lot of Republicans are giving them, delay it another year, get it ready, and make sure it works,” Blitzer said on Tuesday

Of course I think he also doesn’t really have a problem with Obamacare but would have liked the exchanges to be delayed simply because it is making the Democrats look bad right now. There is always an ulterior motive with these people.

Then it got real interesting today–and this is more important and telling than any talking head in the propaganda wing of the Obama regime has to say about this issue–when the mayor of Washington DC interrupted a press conference being held by Harry Reid and demanded that the Senate exempt DC from the government shutdown:

“Sir, we are not a department of the government,” Gray told Reid moments after the mayor concluded his own press event about 50 yards from where Reid held one. “We’re simply trying to be able to spend our own money.”

  This was Harry Reid’s response:

“I’m on your side, don’t screw it up, okay? Don’t screw it up”

So why did Vincent Gray confront Harry Reid about the government shutdown if, as we are being told, it was the Republicans who shut down the government? And why was Harry Reid so taken aback by this? Because last week the Republican led House did in fact pass a bill to fund Washington DC and Harry Reid blocked it in the Senate.

The Senate Democrats might just have overplayed their hand on this issue and it doesn’t help them that the healthcare exchanges have turned into the disaster many of predicted in the first place.

Are we beginning to see Democrats splinter on this issue? I do not know, but I do know this; I am enjoying what I am seeing to this point. I also think that Mr, Gray should expect a little letter from the IRS in the coming days, just ask Ben Carson what happens when you embarrass a Democrat leader in public.

ObamaCare has more holes in it than a wicker submarine.

And with all this time to get it ready you have to wonder if it is being done on purpose.

I thought it was all gross incompetency and ineptitude.

It is either gross incompetency and ineptitude or something even more scary than that…..

This whole thing is a nail biter. Looks like it is starting to go our way some. This refusal to pay death benefits may have been the tipper. So much for the soft ball interview with Stewart.

We can only hope it is starting to go our way. The Dems may finally have gone too far and maybe people are starting to see what they are really about.

We are seeing some push back from Main Street. It’s about time!

Hopefully Main street will go where most republicans hesitate to go. Still, a good number of my daily acquaintances understand that the african prince is doing his best for the people. At least he’s trying to do something. Of course I am unable to answer them since I’m so stupefied by them.

There is still that portion of the people who think Obama is trying but it was so bad before he got there that it isn’t his fault he can’t get it done. Those people will never be convinced he is inept.

When US service members families do not recieve their benfits and there is no loud outcry we have lost. What is happening is beyond belierf and there is no push back. BO should be run out of office for this behavior. Frankly I could care less about DC. It is a Dem city that believes in big government.

You would think there would be a great outcry over what has happened with the death benefits but sadly too many people don’t even know about it because they still get their news from the MSM. Why aren’t the Republicans making a bigger deal out of this?!

Still waiting for Boehner to threaten the careers of enough Republicans in the house to give Obama what he wants.
