A deal has been reached to end the government shutdown
Earlier this afternoon Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid agreed to a deal which will end the government shutdown, and it seems that in all likelihood when the House votes on it later tonight it will pass.
So what did we learn from this episode? First; we learned that people who believe the government is too large and too powerful, people who want to see the government return to its constitutional founding, are nothing but extremists and terrorists. And this ties directly into the second thing we learned, and that is the fact that the establishment ruling class in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike, have no interest in giving up any of the power they have usurped over the years. This is why they consider people who believe in smaller government to be extremists and terrorists–we are a threat to their power and they do not like it one bit.
Make no mistake about it, this was not a battle between Republican and Democrat but rather the establishment and the non-establishment in Washington. And the establishment won yet again. Sure John Boehner held out for as long as possible, but this was not a fight he wanted, it was a fight he was forced into by the conservative faction of the Republican party.
When push came to shove John Boehner capitulated to the establishment by bringing this deal to the floor for a vote (this is a capitulation Harry Reid was unwilling to make when the House sent various spending bills to the Senate over the last two weeks) for he is one of them and he can now return to the establishment fold happy with the result he wanted all along.
In the end nothing has really changed: Obamacare remains funded while the employer mandate remains delayed and the individual mandate remains in place, and the subsidies for government workers remain in place, The establishment Republicans are claiming a victory because apparently the Democrats agreed to income verification before a person can enroll in Obamacare but that was already part of the law. And for all of this we get to do it all over again in another couple of months.
But John Boehner cannot alone be blamed for this because he had plenty of help from the establishment Republicans in the Senate. Where were the Senate Republicans when the House sent funding bills for sick children with cancer and for opening national parks? They were silent but had they spoken up and demanded a vote on these bills perhaps the outcome could have been different. But, much like John Boehner in the end, they went along to get along and that is exactly what is wrong in Washington today.
I have already exhausted many more words on this issue than I had intended to, so with this foolishness behind us can we please get back to the NSA, IRS, and Benghazi scandals, as well as the disaster Obamacare is already turning into?

Can somebody tell me what good it does us conservatives to have a Republican majority in the House? It probably wouldn’t make much difference if Republicans controlled both houses and the presidency. We have a one party system and they are not going to let go of their power. We are a minority in America and we had better get use to it. Now we can sit back and watch Paul Ryan sell us out on amnesty.
Having said all of that, I believe we must keep fighting so that when the house of cards does fall maybe enough people will finally recognize that the right-wing extremist were right all along.

The Republicans and the Democrats are one in the same and that will not change until we have new leadership in the House. Hopefully this fiasco will lead to Boehner’s removal as Speaker.

Those of us who remember 1994 also remember that the republicans, after winning a majority in the house for the first time in 40+ years, were beseeched by the democrats to share their new won power with them. It made no difference to the winners who did indeed defer to the democrats demands for sharing power. It made no difference that the democrats shared nothing when in the majority those 40 years. The calling the right wing extremist is like calling a pretty girl ugly but it continues to weave its magic with a stupid populace. Make no mistake the republicans have again opened their legs like a $2 whore without the democrats needing to use a friction modifier. Business as usual.

May seem a bit off topic, but I am waiting to see how the Tea Party candidate did in the Senate race in New Jersey which is going down now. He was behind 25 points a week or so ago, then last I read 10 points. Perhaps I am hoping for a Scott Brown moment. Desperate times call for desperate hopes!

The Lonegan campaign says voting machines are down in Morristown, Carteret, Middletown, Bridgeton, and Montgomery districts. All conservative districts.

Ten points with about 9 other independent candidates on the ballot when he was losing by 25 points a week or so ago. Obama won NJ by 18 points. Pundits are saying nothing to give high fives about.

We knew what the outcome would be all this time. I don’t know why we wasted so much time hoping it would turn out differently. The Republicans always back down and the Democrats gloat! Nothing new this time, either. I am sick of them “representing” us, because they are doing anything but that. They make me sick!

This was not a surprising outcome, I am surprised they held out as long as they did but in the end they care more about their power than us so they came back into the fold.

My wife and I just returned home from casting our votes for Steve Lonega whom we both know personally. We (my wife and I) never doubted for a moment that the corrupt embarrassment of a mayor, Cory Booker of Newark would win by double digits. This clown running on a platform of working with the other side as the consummate bi-partisan had city council meetings erupt into fistfights, a city council composed 100% of democrats. He is a phony and a fraud who grew up in the uber rich northern New Jersey suburb of Norwood, moved to Newark to portray himself as a bro living in the hood. Meanwhile Mr Lonegan who grew up in middle class Ridgefield Park, declared legally blind as a teenager, still played football in college and became a self made businessman as opposed to becoming a ward of the state. Now who in their right mind would vote for a fiscally conservative white boy when they can vote for a spendthrift Obama clone. Another guy judged not by the content of his character but by the color of his skin. Again, nothing new under the sun. And yes I am embarrassed by New Jerseys blue color.
P.S. The reason governor Chris Christie (R) won election is because he ran against an incumbent, John Corzine, was so overtly corrupt, who fleeced the state to such an extent that even democrats had a hard time voting for him. Once more, a microcosm of the state of the union as regards the morons who have the right to vote.

I was hoping, apparently beyond hope, that the Republicans would stand their ground, at least once. That seems to have been too much to ask for. I am really at a loss for words to express my disgust. I honestly believe we should have had the upper hand in this fight, but that was not to be.
We really need new leadership in the GOP. Otherwise, we are certainly doomed to irrelevancy.

When I started blogging, I did not believe that a 3rd/new party was necessary.
I have since reconsidered.
Of course, it’ll all probably go straight to hell before we can educate enough of the voting public, but anyway, we gotta try.

It is time for a third party for the Republicans and the Democrats are really one in the same, the are two sides of the same ruling class coin and they must be replaced. Of course, I happen to believe it is time for the New Federalist Party.

all I know is, whatever options are given to me during the next election, I will never. Vote the lesser of two evils. Again. I won’t refuse to vote for someone just b/c of their party affiliation, but if there is no good option, well I just won’t vote at all.

I’m trying to see a bright side here. If 60 percent of voters want all of congress replaced, then maybe 2014 will look alot like 2010. A sliver of hope anyway.

The Rep failed again! When will they learn to hire someone to create effective messages. I doubt they can get their act together by 2014. The election of Booker again shows the Rep can’t overcome Dem bs. People in this country don’t care as long as they are getting something from the gov.

This vacated senate seat election in NJ will grow tentacles reaching nationwide. The democrats now know for sure the inner city voter turnout along with immigrants, legal or not, can and will control and determine election results. The republicans are now ripe to sell out their constituents on immigration reform and it is become common knowledge in D.C. that they can be bought out for a mere few $Billions here and there. Chaka-zapata, the future is here.

I still am holding out hope that people, once they see how much they are going to have to pay for healthcare, will turn on this Administration. It seems you can mess with almost anything a person has, but their money. The more people I am talking with, the more I am seeing concern about IF they are going to have to sign up for this monster. These are ones that thought it was so great that EVERYONE will have coverage. Now, they are starting to sweat as the bits and pieces of information are leaking out about the COST. See, that is the Achilles heel of this “plan”. Even the 80ish people I know are concerned and I have never seen that before, they always had the “god will provide” attitude because of their faith, now that faith is waivering with what they see and hear.
The Republicans need to start saying “I told you so”, I know that is juvenile, but it is the best that can be said and understood by everyone. Will they do it? Who the hell knows, we have most in Congress that want to “get along” with everyone and not offend anyone, that needs to be thrown out the window now…it is going to become every man and woman for themselves in the very near future.

I hope you are right Lou but I fear that by the time that happens it will be too late to do anything about it. The Democrats are going to use these problems to promote single payer, saying the law didn’t go far enough and if they win the House in 2014 they will finally achieve their goal.
