The Pentagon waived laws to let China make parts for the F-35 fighter program

January 4, 2014

We all know that Barack Obama has a penchant for ignoring the laws with which he disapproves; we saw this with DOMA, illegal immigration, and Obamacare, so it should come as no surprise to learn the Pentagon repeatedly waived laws in order to let China manufacture parts for the F-35 fighter program.

The Pentagon repeatedly waived laws banning Chinese-built components on U.S. weapons in order to keep the $392 billion Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter program on track in 2012 and 2013, even as U.S. officials were voicing concern about China’s espionage and military buildup.

According to Pentagon documents reviewed by Reuters, chief U.S. arms buyer Frank Kendall allowed two F-35 suppliers, Northrop Grumman Corp and Honeywell International Inc, to use Chinese magnets for the new warplane’s radar system, landing gears and other hardware. Without the waivers, both companies could have faced sanctions for violating federal law and the F-35 program could have faced further delays.

“It was a pretty big deal and an unusual situation because there’s a prohibition on doing defense work in China, even if it’s inadvertent,” said Frank Kenlon, who recently retired as a senior Pentagon procurement official and now teaches at American University. “I’d never seen this happen before.”

It is becoming more and more clear every day that we are in the grips of a lawless regime which feels it has the right to ignore Federal laws, or rewrite them to its liking, based on a whim and a prayer and this is the latest example.

When is somebody, anybody, in the Congress finally going to say enough is enough and stand up to this scofflaw regime? Let me guess, Barack Obama had no idea this was going on until he saw it on the news…..

In my humble opinion, no military parts or services should eve be outsourced to any non domestic manufacturer. For those who may have a different viewpoint, time will prove the foolishness of our being so reckless and trusting with military sourcing of vital parts and services. When and if that time comes, watch our Congress start pointing fingers at each other to divert personal blame on everyone and thing but themselves. That is what Congress does consistently dating
as far back in history as the Civil War.

    Unfortunately ,history does indeed repeat.

I agree wholeheartedly and in fact I thought that was the case, but it appears as if only certain countries are banned.

What The EFF YOU SEE KAY!!!! This is beyond comprehension. Not only are the Commissar In Chief and his suck-ups in positions of give away reward jobs sabotaging, intentionally sabotaging, our defense posture, but what about all those American jobs being given to those who will most likely be involved in the next armed conflict we face. The destroyers of the Constitution and all that is good about this country are raping the tax-payers and then shipping that money by the friggin boat load to those who will use that prosperity to destroy us. I guess the Health care LIE was not tanking the economy fast enough.

These haters of liberty have created so many avenues of destruction that even if we manage to wrangle the political machine away from them, the sheer momentum will be nearly impossible for a bloated, lazy, lemming society to work up the courage to stop. Every one please call your elected officials and raise bloody hell. Get in their faces and make them answer for this latest crime of omission. And it is a crime of the highest magnitude.

And one last rant before I go check my blood pressure. Where the hell is John McCain. the man who suffered as a POW at the hands of communists? Ok, Pray hard, play hard and create pressure on those who claim to represent us.

Trusting another country with making parts for our national defense is unthinkable. I remember back in the ’80s I worked for a company which had some national defense products and when the company the parent company was bought by a British company my company had to be sold away.

The whole F35 program is a crony capital project. Here is some background info.

In January [2013], the Lockheed Martin production facility in Fort Worth, Texas, reported it was well along “in the final phase of building the wings” of the 100th F-35 constructed by the Bethesda, Maryland, company. Of the first 99 F-35s, none are yet operational.

F-35 even close to fully operational – it can fly only on sunny days. It can’t fly at night. And it can’t fly in clouds or near lightning. We know this because the Pentagon tells us so, in a report written for the Secretary of Defense by the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation, J. Michael Gilmore, dated February 15, 2013.

The F-35 is a nuclear-capable weapon of mass destruction that was supposed to be the “fighter of the future” when it was undertaken in 2001. Now, more than a decade overdue and more than 100% over budget, the plane is expected to cost $1.5 trillion over its useful life, of which about $400 billion has already been spent.

Even so that doesn’t mean the Pentagon can waive the laws.

That is fine with me, but I also want to go after these people who think they can change the law whenever the please.

All things being equal it should come as no surprise if Obalama, upon leaving office, becomes the highest paid ever lobbyist for the Chicoms. That is if he passes on becoming president for life. What does Valerie say?

He will make a fortune if he ever leaves office, that much is certain. Michelle will be real proud of her country then.

Greta, on Fox, keeps asking the congressmen she has on, when are they going to do something beside write a letter to them complaining when each of these lawless issues come up. They simply spin the question away.

Shame on any one of them should they question or cast aspersions upon the anarchist in charge who has them all quaking in their wingtips.
