In 2007 the NAACP opposed the same type of Medicare cuts it supports under Obamacare

January 7, 2014

According to this article back in 2007 the House and the Senate passed a bill which would have cut Medicare by roughly $150-160 billion, the measure was eventually vetoed by then president George W Bush. The NAACP vehemently opposed these cuts, claiming they would have adversely affected minorities:

“[Medicare Advantage] MA plans – private health plan options that provide coverage to 8.3 million Medicare beneficiaries – disproportionately provide coverage to low-income and racial and ethnic minority beneficiaries,” according to a letter the NAACP sent to Congress.

“Specifically, 40 percent of African Americans without Medicaid or employer coverage rely on comprehensive health insurance coverage provided by MA plans. By providing more comprehensive benefits and lower cost-sharing than traditional Medicare, MA plans help racial and ethnic minority populations gain access to health care services that are critical to their long-term health and well-being,” the NAACP letter read.

“Reduced funding for the MA program would have a negative impact on the health and health care of millions of Medicare beneficiaries – particularly for low-income and minority beneficiaries,” the letter continued.

“We urge you not to backtrack on these priorities by cutting funding for the MA program. This program is vitally important to the health and well-being of racial and ethnic minorities who rely on MA to provide them with the comprehensive, affordable, and coordinated care they need,” the NAACP letter added.

As anyone who has been paying attention already knows, Obamacare cut $300 billion from Medicare, more than twice the estimate from the 2007 bill, and yet the NAACP supports Obamacare, calling it one of the most pressing civil rights issues for this generation.”

NAACP Chairwoman Roslyn Brock recently said that Obamacare is “one of the most pressing civil rights issues for this generation” and that the law’s opponents “resist our noble cause.”

The obvious question most people have is this, why would the NAACP now support cuts through Obamacare which they once thought would be devastating to the minority community? The  answer is equally as obvious and it has to do with which party occupies the White House, so I have a different question. Why would Barack Obama support a policy which is going to hurt minorities? I suppose it is his racist white half which supports policies which hurt minorities. Yeah, I went there!

But lest we forget that in 2007 the Democrats were in control of both the House and the Senate so it was Democrats who supported this racist policy while George Bush opposed it, and yet the Republicans are the racists?

This seems to be the key to the great success the left has enjoyed lately: they have been able to get all the factions under control. Unlike the late 60’s when labor-union-democrat Mayor Daley didn’t hesitate to turn the police on race-democratics, or hippy-democrats, apparently everyone took the advice of Rodney King and decided to ‘just get along’.
Now I am not the kind of person who wants to be under anyone’s “control” but when we have tea-party-conservatives being fought by party-boss-conservatives fought by old-guard conservatives fought by RINO-conservatives, I see another loss on the horizon.

There is no doubt that the Democrats rally around their own in times of trouble, in fact they double down and remain defiant. I believe the Republicans are in big trouble as a party and perhaps the only thing that can save them will be Obamacare, if they don’t screw that up as well.

If the RNC were to donate $10 million to the NAACP today those on the left would simply say it was an attempt to cover up the rampant racism in their party. This is where we are and where we will stay just as long as there are some willing to sell their vote for a Obama Phone, a handful of food stamps or just some meaningless promises coming from the first half black President.

You are right, and that is my point: their wagons are circled. Romney has a family member adopt a black child and ROMNEYS FAMILY IS AT FAULT. Yes, the Left is a master of “free bread and circus’s, but nobody leaves the reservation.

You are right. It really doesn’t matter what the Republicans do, it will always successfully be spun in a negative way and the media will play right along.

As long as the left has their twelfth man on the field, the MSM, the right cannot win. I talk with too many people each day who have not clue one regarding the iron curtain coming down across the land.
On another note my TV and radio must be broken since I have neither seen nor heard Obamacare mentioned . Maybe the conversation moved on while I was sleeping.

Unfortunately you are right, the MSM is doing its job. Most people do not even know what is going on and that is the way the MSM and the Democrats want it.

Thank goodness for Gates coming forward, let’s talk about foreign policy for once. Now we know why all of the disappearing Generals. We need to focus on the independents and this might just do it.

It will be interesting to see how the Obama Machine spins the Gates issue. If Gates also goes after Bushes involvement, it will be a wash. The left thinks they have a winner with another 2 years of unemployment give-aways.

The problem is that we knew most of what he said already and the left will probably ignore it. I hope this brings down the Democrats, but I am not hopeful at this point.

Anyone who needs to read Gates ‘ money maker to discover something’s we should already know-Obama is a cowardly two faced apathetic phoney coward- needs a lobotomy. Luckily for Obalama his peeps can’t read any more than they can rationalize the destructive effects of Obalama care coming down the pike.

I fear you are right, this is something most people should already know but they are not interested in learning the truth. They need to find out the hard way.
