Omnibus spending bill passed by the Congress cuts funding for jailing illegal immigrants

January 18, 2014

Nancy Pelosi was recently quoted as saying the cupboard is bare, there is nothing left to cut. But she apparently spoke a little prematurely because Paul Ryan and Patty Murray found something which they thought was out of control–veteran, including disabled veterans, pensions–and they decided to cut them.

When the Senate had the chance to right the wrong inflicted upon our military heroes by the House by replacing the pension cuts with a tax loophole closure used by illegal aliens the Democrats sided with the illegals over the veterans. (Twice, by the way.)

Now the Congress has passed a massive omnibus spending bill and they have found something else to cut and it once again revolves around illegal aliens. You guessed it, it is not closing the tax loophole and it does not involve cutting any benefits illegal aliens might be receiving.

The Congress has decided to slash a program by 25% which pays for incarcerating illegal aliens once they have committed another crime.

“A massive 2014 federal spending bill passed this week by Congress would cut nearly $60 million–or about 25 percent–from a federal program that reimburses states and local governments for the cost of incarcerating undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes,” the Arizona Republic’s Erin Kelly wrote.

Mind you this is not a program used to arrest illegal aliens for being illegal, this is a program used to pay for the incarceration of illegal aliens who have committed another crime in addition to being in the country against the law. And now the Federal government is going to push the costs of incarcerating illegal aliens back to the states and the people of those states.

You may ask why a states rights advocate such as myself would have a problem with the Federal government giving something back to the states and the answer is simple: The Federal government is not doing its job when it comes to arresting and deporting illegal immigrants and because of this some of them commit crimes and are thrown in jail. If the Federal government was even trying to do its job of protecting the border some of these crimes might have been avoided, if the Federal government was serious about protecting the border most of these crimes might have been avoided, but now the Federal government is pushing the costs of its own failure back to the state level. The government is subsidizing its failure by dispersing the costs back at the state level.

Between this story, cutting veterans benefits, and refusing to close a tax loophole used by illegal aliens it is clear with whom the Federal government’s loyalty lies.

With the illegals out of jail their two to three visits to the polling places on Election Day will be so much less stressful. !Viva Zapata!

For some reason, I missed this in the news. What other surprises await us. We had to pass the bill…. You know the drill.
