Arizona Republicans censure John McCain for not being a conservative

January 26, 2014

Arizona Republicans have censured John McCain for being a liberal. This comes on the heals of his being censured by some Arizona county Republicans. Here is more:

The Arizona Republican Party formally censured Sen. John McCain on Saturday, citing a voting record they say is insufficiently conservative.

The resolution to censure McCain was approved by a voice-vote during a meeting of state committee members in Tempe, state party spokesman Tim Sifert said. It needed signatures from at least 20 percent of state committee members to reach the floor for debate.

According to the resolution, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee has campaigned as a conservative but has lent his support to issues “associated with liberal Democrats,” such as immigration reform and funding the federal health care law.

While I agree with the notion that John McCain is not now, nor has he ever been, a conservative this appears to be misguided to me for the problem does not lie solely at the feet of John McCain, but rather with the voters of Arizona.

It is true that John McCain runs his campaigns as if he is a conservative but his voting record should prove that he is not. If the voters vote for John McCain based on what he says rather than looking at what he does than the blame for John McCain continually winning reelection lies with the voters and it is there the Republicans in Arizona should focus. Educate the people of your state about the real John McCain and he should lose, unless of course the Republicans of that state are not a conservative as they think they are.

Considering the fact that Arizona Republicans have stated that this will go no further than censure it appears to be mostly symbolic so perhaps this is how they intend to inform the voters of the real John McCain for it certainly is not going to change how John McCain votes. He keeps winning with his voting record so why would he change?

Sadly, like the Democratic Party, there are people who vote for whatever candidate has an “R” after their. So very sad!

Censure; merely window dressing. McCaining is on its way to becoming the rule rather than the exception with the republicans.

Yep, the Republicans are moving to the left. This is becoming the norm and they do not even realize it will be their downfall.
