ICE officials beg the Republican establishment not to pass amnesty

January 28, 2014

While the Republican establishment is preparing to bow to their corporate masters, while failing to listen to the American people, by proposing their own immigration reform bill complete with amnesty there is one group of people who have to deal with illegal immigration on a daily basis with whom the Republicans should listen.

If the Republican establishment is not willing to listen to their constituents perhaps they should listen to ICE, for they see firsthand what Barack Obama’s lax immigration enforcement is doing to the country. And they have let their feelings known. Here is part of what Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council, had to say:

We have a President who will provide those illegally in the US with the seat of honor at one of the most important events of the year, but ICE officers who serve under him are unwelcome in the White House. This is symptomatic of the President’s continued demonstration of contempt for immigration officers and his blatant disregard for Congressionally-enacted law. ICE officers are forced every day to release violent offenders back into the streets; we are prohibited from enforcing immigration violations and document fraud and from cracking down on illegal employment; we are prohibited from enforcing public charge law to protect taxpayers; and we are forced to catch-and-release illegal aliens who are not ‘priorities’ even when officers’ believe there is a threat to public safety.

We are pleading with House Republicans to stand up to the Obama Administration’s abuses and to support ICE officers. I am therefore alarmed to read that House Republicans are working with prominent amnesty proponents instead of reaching out and working with ICE officers. Any immigration principles crafted by House Republicans should be crafted in consultation with the ICE personnel who know firsthand what is wrong with our immigration system and how to fix it. House Republicans must work with ICE officers, and investigate the abuses and misconduct at DHS, before moving any legalization bill – otherwise, they are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. ICE officers do not have the connections, funds or votes that powerful special interests and billionaire CEOs can deliver. We are just 5,000 law officers responsible for enforcing immigration law for tens of millions of visa holders and illegal immigrants in all 50 states and two territories — it is a losing battle that puts American safety at risk.  But we hope to have justice and a concern for public safety on our side, and I hope House Republicans will support us in our uphill fight to ensure the constitutional rule of law in America.

But of course the Republican establishment does not care what kind of impact passing amnesty will have on either ICE or the American people. They do not care if this will increase competition for the few remaining jobs in Barack Obama’s economy, and they do not care if this will cause wages to fall because of the increased competition for these jobs by people who came to this country illegally because all they really care about is holding on to their power and their positions. And they obviously feel as if this is the best way to ensure they are protected even as they move to pass legislation which will hurt the people they were elected to represent.

I would ask the Republican establishment one simple question: who elected you to your positions, was it the American people or was it the illegal aliens who broke the law to get here?

It is beyond my comprehension that the Republicans are working to provide amnesty for illegal immigrants. I am not for mistreating illegals, but they are, simply put, criminals. They have broken American law, yet they are afforded privileges some of our own citizens can not get.

It is beyond my realm of logic to understand why the Republicans are running so scared. It seems to me they examined the 2012 elections and took away all the wrong lessons. Is there no one in the Republican leadership who is willing to take dig in their heels and stop this never-ending slide towards political suicide?

I think it is a combination of looking at the last election plus pressure from their major donors to get this done. If so this means there is unlikely anything we can do to change their minds this time around.

Not only will amnesty change the face of America-if you care what America is, it will change the political power structure. And that is bad news for all Americans, whether they agree with amnesty or not.

This is another you got to pass the bill to know what is in it situations. There are about 12 million illegal aliens (not illegal immigrants). I smell a Fed jobs program. BO can setup a new agency – Federal Deportation Agency. Kind of like the TSA in reverse. All of these illegals can get groped, fill out forms and made to jump through hops just like the rest of working stiffs who want to travel legally. That agency can have a goal of deporting 1/2 million a month, so when BO leaves office the problem is solved!

Yep, we will all be in the dark until after the bill is passed and then it will be too late. I don’t doubt for a second Obama would create a new government agency to deal with this–just what we need.

Why not just give back the Southwest to Mexico. It will turn out to be far cheaper. Texas best secede.

Truth is stranger than fiction. Because this immigration crap involves self interest and money the R’s going along is totally rational.
