John Boehner is hellbent on passing immigration reform this year

 The business leaders have spoken and they want an immigration reform bill passed so we can count on John Boenher to bow down to his corporate masters and do everything in his power to give them what they want. He basically admitted this at a recent fundraiser:

Many lawmakers and activists have assumed the issue was off the table in an election year. But Mr. Boehner said at a Las Vegas fundraiser last month he was “hellbent on getting this done this year,” according to two people in the room.

  His spokesman immediately began walking this comment back by claiming while John Boehner longs to pass immigration reform it cannot be done until Barack Obama proves himself trustworthy to uphold the law as passed:

“Nothing has changed. As he’s said many times, the Speaker believes step-by-step reform is important, but it won’t happen until the president builds trust and demonstrates a commitment to the rule of law,” said Brendan Buck, a Boehner spokesman.

  John Boehner is clearly speaking out of both sides of his mouth here; he is trying to reassure big business leaders he will pass immigration reform while at the same time telling his base that he cannot pass it because Barack Obama is not trustworthy. He is lying to one side and I think I know where his true intentions and interests lie and while Barack Obama is untrustworthy I find John Boehner equally untrustworthy.
