CFPB does away with employee reviews because they are racist

May 26, 2014

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced earlier today that it was doing away with employee reviews because it is racist. Here is more:

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced on Monday that it will now award all employees the highest rating regardless of performance reviews.

The CFPB, which oversees transactions in the financial sector for the federal government, decided to no longer conduct employee reviews because there were just too many apparent “significant disparities” between the races, ages, and locations of its employees.

According to American Banker, this new policy is set to cost over $5 million dollars, as it will now pay employees as if they received the highest evaluation score. The previous system ranked staff on their performance from a scale ranging from one to five, with five being the best score a CFPB staffer could receive after a review of their work on the job.

So now under this new policy all employees will get the highest possible rating despite their job performance and with employee ratings comes an increase in salary, which means all employees will receive the largest raise possible regardless of whether they deserve it or not.

This, of course, means there is no incentive for hard work for why should an employee try harder if they are going to receive the same reward as an employee who puts in no extra effort? Talk about disincentivizing work ethic!

“”We have determined that there were broad-based disparities in the way performance ratings were assigned across our employee base in both 2012 and 2013,” Cordray stated in the email. “These differences indicate a systemic disadvantage to various categories of employees that persisted across divisions, offices, and other employee characteristics.”

It would seem to me that if this is indeed happening the proper course of action would be to go after, and punishing, the people who are rating employees based on race or other reasons rather than simply basing the employee assessments on job performance, but what do I know?

This is quite ironic when you consider the fact that the woman who is most credited with advocating and creating the CFPB in the first place, Elizabeth Warren, got to where she is today by lying about her Native-American heritage.

How long before incarceration is deemed racist and that convicting criminals of a crime is racist?

If the only way to eliminate racism in an organization is to eliminate value judgements based on accomplishment, something is very wrong in the first place.

This is fully worthy of the Looney Tunes Award.

Exactly! Why are they not going after the people who are basing their employee’s performances based on race? Why do they get off the hook?
