The EPA admits its new global warming rules will cause energy prices to rise
When the Congress failed to pass Barack Obama’s cap and trade legislation he famously quipped that there was “more than one way to skin a cat.” We all knew exactly what he meant with that statement: he intended to use the EPA to circumvent the Congress to unilaterally implement his radical agenda and today the EPA obliged him by announcing its intention to force coal companies to reduce their carbon emissions by 30% in the coming years.
It does not take a genius to figure out that this means an increase in the cost of energy and today the EPA admitted this fact.
The EPA’s own regulatory analysis of its rule to cut carbon dioxide emissions from existing power plants says it will hike retail electricity by as much as 6.5 percent by 2020 — all while forcing 19 percent of the U.S. coal-fired capacity to shutdown and decreasing coal production by up to 28 percent.
“Under the provisions of this rule, EPA projects that approximately 46 to 49 GW of additional coal-fired generation (about 19% of all coal-fired capacity and 4.6% of total generation capacity in 2020) may be removed from operation by 2020,” the EPA says in its regulatory impact analysis of the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan.
The decrease in coal-fired power will also cause natural gas prices to rise up to 11.5 percent as an additional 1.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas is used to make up for the lack of coal power in 2020.
“Average retail electricity prices are projected to increase in the contiguous U.S. by 5.9% to 6.5% in 2020,” the agency reported. Prices will have increased by about 3 percent by 2030, the agency added
The EPA then estimates that in 2030 energy prices will start to drop, but even if this is true the damage would already have been done to families which are already struggling to make ends meet.
This of course should not be unexpected, after all Barack Obama promised his policies would make energy prices skyrocket.
This appears to be the one promise Barack Obama intends to make good on, but who will be hurt the most by these new regulations? Middle Class America of course. And Barack Obama likes to call himself a Middle Class warrior? I don’t think so…..

If we think things are bad now, wait until after the fall election. The maddening thing is that he told us years ago he intended to do all of this.

Yeah, if the Republicans hold onto the House and win the Senate I fear what the lame duck Congress will impose on the American people when they have nothing left to lose!

6.5% by 2030? which of those idiots at the EPA would like to explain the 38% that went into effect today. http://www.positivelynaperville.com/2014/06/02/electric-rates-increase-throughout-illinois/33475 What a bunch of Jackwagons

Yeah, somehow I think it will be higher before all is said and done.

I just heard an interview on the Prager show with a former utility commissioner who said if EVERY American coal plan was shut, it would result in LESS than a 4% reduction in emissions world wide at a cost of over 8 billion dollars. The speaker said that it would be far better to help China and India reduce their pollution using American technology.

Proving that this has nothing to do with saving the planet and has everything to do with controlling the people.
