Eric Cantor loses in the primary!
The reports of the death of the Tea Party have been greatly exaggerated!
In what could be one of the greatest political upsets in recent US history House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost to the upstart David Brat in the Virginia primary.
This should send shock waves throughout the Republican establishment for while they funneled roughly $5 million into Eric Cantor’s campaign in order to protect him his opponent only had about $200,ooo on hand. To be honest I haven’t been following this race closely because I assumed money would trump everything else but this is one time where the issues may have actually trumped the moneyed interests in Washington.
The establishment ruling class in Washington have been doing everything in their power to protect their own; from John Boehner punishing conservatives who would not toe the line by removing them from key committee positions to Karl Rove starting a Super PAC to protect incumbent Republicans the fix seemed to be in. However this result may have changed that.
Just recently we learned that the establishment Republicans were preparing to wage war against Ted Cruz but they might want to rethink that strategy after learning the results of this election.
Perhaps this will teach the elitist establishment Republicans that it is time to put the interests of their constituents ahead of their own political futures for once or the same fate could befall them in the future.
It is true that the results of this election could move Eric Cantor’s seat from a probable hold to a tossup, and it could give the Democrats a better chance of winning a seat which otherwise would have been safe, but if the Republicans continue to leave the reservation (can I still say that, or is it racist?) what difference, at this point, does it make?
A shot has been fired over the bow, the only question is; will the establishment elitist Republicans in Washington learn anything from this? They had better wake up because, quite frankly, we are getting sick and tired of their doublespeak.

With 12 hours to prepare for his show on FOX tomorrow Karl Rove will dis spell any rumors that the RINO elites have learned anything. Hell hath no fury like an arrogant political party and its operatives scorned.

Yep, Karl Rove will be in spin mode but this has hurt his cause whether or not he cares to admit it.

GOOD!
It is WAY past time that political parties and politicians understand that our elected officials represent their CONSTITUENTS. They DON’T represent themselves, a political party, or the whole Country. They represent the PEOPLE in their district.

Exactly Laura and this is something the politicians and too many of the people seem to forget!

Lindsey Graham may have lost his primary except he had no less than six challengers. What were they thinking? You do not win any election putting up that many challengers. But I believe people are tired of entrenched politicians. We want clear solutions to these basic problems. Not pandering to racial groups and genitalia. All politics are local.

Good point about Graham. He probably would have lost if they could have settled on one candidate instead of having so many who ended up splitting the vote.

He was pro-amnesty so screw him and the horse on which he rode.
Here’s to the Tea Party being dead hurr durr!

That was the big issue in this race, hopefully this will have amnesty supporting Republicans rethinking their position.

Can we ask for anything more? Cantor got what he deserved. That’s all I ask for folks to get what they deserve. Doesn’t always work out that way, but it did tonight.

Hopefully this will send a signal to Washington that cannot be ignored.

Well now, isn’t this an interesting turn of events? Is it possible that this will open the door to someone other than John Boehner becoming Speaker of the House? Someone with the gumption to fight, instead of rolling over and playing dead when the Democrats brandish their rhetoric?

I think Boehner is all done as Speaker, he was nearly defeated the last time around and I think his time is nigh. Hopefully someone with a little more courage will take his place!

Peter King R-NY on MSLSD just now this morning fired the opening shots in refuting Brat’s win and attempting to further marginalize Ted Cruz and his “type” of irresponsible conservatism. This elite, at least, has morphed into a big government bully. He was followed by Xavier Becerra R-CA who proclaimed that the House must make a choice to either do things the Tea Party way or the American way. Also he said we should not confuse Tea party members with Americans. These pigs to a man want little more than to tear down our borders. The enemy lie within.

Peter King is establishment all the way. They are starting to run scared. Isn’t it a pity that they do not use these same tactics on the Democrats? Guess it shows us who they really are!

Yeah, in the end the establishment is the establishment no matter which party they belong to and in the end they want to protect their power. They do not give a damn about the people they are supposed to represent.

Why am I not surprised?! King is another one who must be defeated in November!
