Barack Obama claims he can relate to struggling Americans because he and Michelle once lost their nanny

 The left loves to claim the Democrats are the party that cares about the lower classes in America but while they rail against the rich, and the unfairness built into the system, they conveniently forget to mention that in many cases they are also very well off.

  So when the issue comes up they have to justify their wealth while also trying to distance themselves from it in order to prove they understand the plight of the ordinary American. See, they are not part of the evil rich capitalists–they are better than that.

   We saw this recently during an interview with Hillary Clinton when she was asked how she could relate to the average American when she is so wealthy. Her response is well known: she justified her wealth by saying she and Bill were dead broke when they left the White House. And to prove this she said they were having trouble paying for their houses.

  Two obvious follow-up questions were left on the table. First, how many houses do you and Bill actually own? And second, if you own several houses how does that make you able to relate to the lower classes? But of course these questions were not asked. Without question this would have been asked of Mitt Romney if he had made that claim during the 2012 election. This would have been used as more justification to prove he was out of touch.

  Hillary Clinton then doubled down by saying that while she was wealthy she is different than the wealthy people she attacks because she earned her money and pays taxes on it. Okay…..

  Today Barack Obama tried to explain to a woman and her husband how he and Michelle could relate to their struggles. First he read a letter the woman had sent to him.

Minnesota resident “Rebekah [Erier] sent me this letter, and it moved me,” Obama told his donors at an evening fund-raiser in Minneapolis, Minn., as he tried to show he is in touch with ordinary people’s concerns.

“She and her husband married about six, seven years ago; he was in — he was a carpenter, he was in contracting. He had a good job; housing market plummets, loses his job. Gets another job. Gets injured on the job, they accumulate some debt, that job is lost,” Obama said, after noting the couple has two children.

“He gets another job with the railroads, which require him to be away basically four or five days a week while she’s taking care of two kids. … She goes back to school to get an accounting degree [and] ends up with $12,000 worth of debt. She gets a job at the accounting firm, he gets a new job, although at a significantly lower pay, back in construction and he can be with the family more,” he said at the event.

  He then went on to explain how he could relate to this family’s plight:

“When I see you, I’m reminded of when Michelle and I were starting off early on, and Michelle calling me in tears because we had just lost the nanny and we had no idea whether we were going to be able to replace her with somebody,” he said.

  So, this woman’s husband loses two jobs and is forced to take a job which leaves her alone to take care of two kids. She goes back to school and racks up debt, and Barack Obama claims he can feel her pain because at one point in his life he and Michelle had to let their nanny go?

  That is not exactly the same situation now is it? Again I have to wonder what the reaction in the media would have been if Mitt Romney, or any other Republican for that matter, had used the same example to prove they can relate to struggling Americans. I think we know the answer…..

  I do not begrudge the Clinton’s or the Obama’s their wealth, but they should probably stop trying to explain how they can understand what we are going through because they cannot and they just sound silly trying to do so.

  A better defense, in my opinion, would be to admit they are wealthy and then state they are using this wealth to obtain a position where they will be able to help other Americans reach the same level of success, but I guess they cannot do this because they have labeled all rich people as evil so they do not want to put themselves in that class.
