Left wing website claims global warming might be responsible for destabilizing Iraq
Since Barack Obama pulled our troops out of Iraq without signing a status of forces agreement we have seen that country devolve into violence. The left, eager to place the blame anywhere other than on the shoulders of the president, is now looking for another scapegoat.
The obvious scapegoat would be George Bush of course. The left is claiming that if the former president did not go into Iraq in the first place none of this would be happening now. This of course is true but it does not fully absolve Barack Obama for a poor decision. He knew the possibilities when he made his decision and it really does not matter at this point whether we should have invaded Iraq or not. (By the way, now that we are out can we please stay out?)
Even if we concede the point that George Bush should never have gone into Iraq in the first place a poor decision by the former president does not negate a poor decision by the current president. You know, that whole two wrongs thing…..
So the left needs to find another scapegoat and this website thinks it has found it–global warming.
Drought is becoming a fixture in the parched landscape, due to a drying trend of the Mediterranean and Middle East region fueled by global warming. The last major drought in this region (2006-2010) finished only a few years ago. When taken in combination with other complex drivers, increasing temperatures and drying of agricultural land is widely seen as assisting in the destabilization of Syria under the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Before civil war broke out there, farmers abandoned their desiccated fields and flooded the cities with protests. A series of U.N. reports released earlier this year found that global warming is already destabilizing nation states around the world, and Syria has been no exception.
With the ongoing crisis in Iraq seemingly devolving by the day, it’s not a stretch to think something similar could already be underway just next door.
The article does admit at one point that this might be just a coincidence but doesn’t this just happen to provide the left with the perfect excuse?
First; it absolves Barack Obama from any blame and second; it is all the Republicans’ fault! After all, they blocked Barack Obama’s cap-and-trade policy and if they had not done that everything would be okay in Iraq.

There’s a lot of ‘destabilizing’ going on in America too … but it’s because we have UN-stabilized wackos running things – nothing to do with the weather!
