Rand Paul calls for John Brennan to be fired for spying on the Senate
Democrats have been coming out of the woodwork since CIA Director John Brennan admitted the CIA was hacking into Senate computers, calling for resignations within the CIA for this abuse of power.
And they are correct to do so; this abuse of power cannot be tolerated and anybody who was responsible for, or complicit in, this scandal should either resign or be fired.
However, many of these same Democrats are not being consistent because they had no problem with Lois Lerner’s IRS targeting political opponents and they have no problem with the NSA spying on Americans, they only have a problem when they are the targets and so their outcry rings hollow on America’s Watchtower.
There is one man who has been consistent on all these issues of governmental over-reach and that is Rand Paul. Today he called for John Brennan to be fired, and like the Democrats who are only recently outraged because they are the ones affected, he is also right. He holds more credibility on this issue because of his above-mentioned consistency, and it should be remembered that he held a 13 hour filibuster in opposition of John Brennan’s nomination.
“I not only voted against Brennan, I filibustered his nomination. It is illegal for the CIA to spy on Americans and an affront to our Republic to spy on the Senate. Brennan told the American people that the CIA did not spy on the Senate but now he admits that they did. Brennan should dismiss those responsible for breaking the law and be relieved of his post,” Paul said in an emailed statement.
Of course Rand Paul was attacked for his filibuster for what the left referred to as being an obstructionist but maybe, just maybe, he had some legitimate concerns.
Perhaps the Democrats who are now calling for resignations within the CIA who attacked Rand Paul should have listened to him. If they did maybe this would not have happened in the first place, unless the order came from above…
