The IRS is going to audit Breitbart News

September 10, 2014

Yesterday Breitbart News announced that the IRS was going to audit its tax returns for the year 2012 and questioned the motive behind the decision.

  Here is more:

The company that runs the conservative Breitbart.com news site says the IRS has selected the network for an audit, in a move company executives suggest is politically motivated.

Breitbart News Network, a California-based company which runs several conservative websites, says the IRS recently audited its 2012 financial information.

“The Obama administration’s timing on this is exquisite, but try as they might through various methods to silence us, we will only get more emboldened,” Stephen K. Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart News Network, said in a written statement.

The IRS refused to comment on this decision and that is okay because there is a privacy issue here. I have no problem with that and in fact they may have a legitimate reason for the audit.

However this is the same agency which targeted conservative groups before the 2012 election, and the list of possible abuses is much longer than that.

I am not going to provide links to all of the following stories because the last time I included several links in one post WordPress temporarily suspended my blog as spam and I do not want to take that risk again, but you can search America’s Watchtower in the sidebar for the stories and you should be able to find them. If you cannot find them and would like to read them leave a note in the comments and I will post a link in response.

Here goes with the alleged abuses of the IRS: the IRS paid $50,000 for illegally leaking the tax returns of the ‘National Organization for Marriage’ before the 2012 election, the agency has harassed Sarah Palin’s father 6 times since she ran for Vice President, an IRS employee illegally accessed Christine O’Donnell’s tax return while she was running for the Senate, and they were improperly scrutinizing the tax returns of political donors and candidates. I am sure I missed some but you get the idea.

And of course Harry Reid knew–or at least claimed he knew–what was in Mitt Romney’s tax returns.

So I ask you what you think; is this but a coincidence or is there more to it? This would be incredibly brazen in light of the spotlight the IRS is under unless the the agency has a legitimate reason, but I for one do not trust the IRS and I would not put it passed the agency…

It never ends, and your earlier post says it all doesn’t it? I cannot wait to hear Zero tell us how he going to keep us safe. He ought to be impeached. Period.

And I forgot about Lerner wanting to audit Grassley, I am sure there is more that I cannot think of at this time.

“So I ask you what you think; is this but a coincidence or is there more to it?”

I definitely don’t think the IRS should get any more benefit of the doubt at this point. We don’t even exactly get the basic constitutional right not to testify against ourselves and innocent-until-proven-guilty protection when we communicate with them, do we? Anyway they are known partisan combatants at this point. We should drain the swamp (or clear out the rats’ nest, whatever metaphor you prefer), fire everyone, and build a new agency from scratch (assuming we still need a tax agency at all).

    I’m just saying…

“I am not going to provide links to all of the following stories because the last time I included several links in one post WordPress temporarily suspended my blog as spam . . . .”

Whoa, that sounds seriously weird, sorry to hear that. That has never happened to me and I have never heard of WordPress doing that to anyone before. I thought more links were supposed to be a good thing!

I agree, it is hard to give the IRS the benefit of the doubt but if I were being audited I don’t think I would want the information to be public. I would guess that if they really had something on Breitbart they would have no problem making it public.
I included several links on one post a year or two ago and it got my blog flagged as spam. I immediately contacted WordPress, they apologized for the mix up and I was only down for about ten minutes. But I was in panic mode because I thought all my hard work was gone forever. I think it probably was an honest mistake but I do not want to take that chance again!
