Gunrunner: Eric Holder releases the Fast and Furious documents he was held in Contempt over

November 4, 2014

project-gunrunner-graphic I have to admit Fast and Furious was the last thing I thought I would be writing about today, but Eric Holder has released the documents he was held in Contempt of Congress over.

Talk about the ultimate document dump; we have heard of the Friday document dump, and we have heard of the holiday weekend document dump, and now we have the election night document dump.

  Here is more:

Justice Department officials provided House investigators with thousands of documents related to Operation Fast and Furious that President Obama had previously claimed were exempt from congressional review.

In an “election eve dump,” as House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) put it, DOJ handed over 64,280 pages of documents, a release that is still only a partial fulfillment of the committee’s request.

“This production is nonetheless a victory for the legislative branch, a victory for transparency, and a victory for efforts to check Executive Branch power,” Issa said of the release.

It is still way too early to know what is in these documents but it is clear Eric Holder purposely waited to release these documents until it was too late for it to negatively affect tonight’s election.

So while this is a victory Eric Holder can still say mission accomplished…at least for now.

Well, I wonder just how many pages or portions of the documents will either be illegible or missing….Hmmmmm. But, your right, the timing was perfectly planned.

Okay, I’m suspicious by nature. Something doesn’t add up here. Why provide the actual documents? The court only ordered DOJ to provide a list of the documents. Holder could have dragged his feet for another two years without breaking a sweat. So, why make the dump? Why did Holder announce his resignation? Could there be a behind the scenes rift between Holder and Obama or Holder and Jarrett? This dump could be harmful to one or both of them. Any thoughts?

If holder allowed the documents out, there’s not going to be anything incriminating to anyone except maybe a few low level scapegoats…. I doubt we’ll see any of the documents that would prove beyond doubt who knew what…

At this point, nothing in the documents can hurt the Democrats in this election. My thought is that the Dems plan on retaining enough power that whatever shows up in the documents will be nothing more than giving us The Finger.
