New Hampshire election results: They are not as bad for Republicans as you might think
Most of you already know how the big races in New Hampshire played out, Frank Guinta was the only Republican on the national ticket to win and Democratic Governor Maggie Hassan held on rather easily, so you probably think it was a bad night for Republicans all across the state but you would be wrong.
In fact is was a very good night for Republicans on the state level. In the State House the Republicans completely reversed a 212-172 Democratic advantage–and then some:
The numbers are not official, and some races will be recounted, but both Republicans and Democrats say Republicans will have a majority of roughly 235-240 seats to roughly 160-165 for Democrats.
The current breakdown is 212 Democrats and 172 Republicans, with 16 vacancies due to deaths and resignations.
The Republicans also picked up another seat in the State Senate and now hold a 14-10 advantage there. And the Republicans also won back the Executive Council by a margin of 3-2.
For those of you who do not know what an Executive Council is it works like this: The New Hampshire Executive branch consists of a Governor and an Executive Council and it provides another check on the Governor. Any spending bill or potential appointee must be approved by the Executive Council.
With Republicans controlling both Houses of the legislative body, and with them also in control of the Executive Council they should be able to keep Governor Hassan in check.
Hey! We took the Senate baby!!! Now let’s get “Dirty Harry” Reid to stop sitting on top of all the Bills that Republicans have proposed.

It won’t be Reid now! That always brings a smile to my face. 🙂 But yes, it is time to bring these bills forward and show the nation that the Democrats are really the “party of no.”

I agree, all the focus was on the national level but the Republicans made huge gains in New Hampshire!

I heard on Fox that the GOP took every single race in Arkansas, including the Senate challenger’s House seat which he was running for as well. (As I caught it)
