The Huffington Post claims Mia Love is a benefactor of white privilege?
The 2014 mid-term election brought larger victories to the Republican party than most people had predicted. As a result of this some on the left seem to have become unhinged as they try to explain away their loses.
The most glaring example of this can probably be seen in this article on The Huffington Post about Mia Love which seems to suggest she is a benefactor of white privilege.
For those who might not know who Mia Love is, she is a black/Haitian conservative Republican woman who won a seat in the Congress representing Utah.
So how could she possibly have benefited from white privilege? Here is the twisted logic:
She appears publicly unhampered by the daily grind of white racism that affects other racial minorities within the United States. Unlike most of them, Mia gets to walk through the hallowed doorways of white institutions controlled by elite, powerful men. She is allowed to pass through in her black, female body with the understanding that she must not see, speak or openly advocate for anything related to race or gender — an unholy compromise. Hence, she might look black, but her politics are red. This is one way white privilege is reproduced at the legislative level of government. In fact, Mia, along with other notable black conservatives such as Allen West, Michael Steele, Amy Holmes, Alan Keyes and Tom Scott, subscribe to a party that rejects any notion of systemic racism as a central cause of black suffering within its basic tenets of individualism. What many conservatives fail to recognize is that individuals are connected to larger groups, and the group in which these Black Republicans belong persistently lags behind in every major social indicator.
First of all, it is Tim Scott not Tom Scott. You would think the author would have at least gotten the name right, but let that go. I really do not have much to add to this–the words speak for themselves–other than to say that it is insulting, and downright racist, to suggest that all minorities should feel, act, and vote the same way.
The article also seems to suggest that these black conservatives are too stupid to realize they are being used, how insulting is that?

I agree, pretty insulting. She only lost by about 700 votes in 2012, and this time she hired a better media handler and didn’t have to run against an incumbent. As an accomplished, trained performer (She turned down a role on Broadway because the show premiered two days before her marriage), she ought to fit right in with modern politics. Ya gotta be good on camera! She also paid her dues in local politics, and was effective as a mayor in reducing her city’s debt profile. I certainly can’t predict whether the national party bosses will try to box her in or co-opt her, but I think she’s earned her shot.

She definitely earned what she got and for HuffPo to insinuate otherwise is insulting. The establishment will try to reign her in if history can be the judge.

Let us see what Boehner does with her. Give her a seat on the Ag Committee? She may be too conservative and Tea Party like.

They may seat her on a committee and hope they can reign her is, but as we have seen in the past if she does not toe the establishment line she will be kicked to the curb.

…unlike Obama who was bankrolled into Harvard, among other places, by the billionaire Saudi family of one of his college buddies. May we refer to this as muslim/islam/sand monkey privilege?

Yeah, he didn’t have any special privileges along the way?

Let me try to translate the slightly convoluted rhetoric:
“NIGGA, YOU ACTIN’ TOO WHITE.”
Only a Liberal could claim that basic principles of equality were racist.

That pretty much sums up what the article was about.

She ran a good campaign and they just cannot stand that. I do not care what COLOR a person is that is running, if they have the same values I have, I will vote for them. Then there are people like Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, Waters, Rangel, Cummins, Holder, you get where I am going, that just cannot stand it if they do not have control of those “Uncle Toms”! Give me an Allen West any day and I will vote for him or Tim Scott, they have values and morals, unlike the ones I typed in above. The real racists are the ones that just cannot let color of skin take a back seat to who we vote for and why. I think we can blame Obama for this surfacing since he has come into play! It is plain sickening, Mia Love will do a good job and make the right decisions, as far as I am concerned!!!!

And don’t forget Dr. Carson! We vote based on policies while the left wants to separate the people into groups and we are the racists?

Also, you know we were getting to a point where we were not even thinking of color of skin there for awhile, at least most the people I know felt that way. Then you throw this bunch into office and it is shoved down our throats about “racist this or that” to where you could not ignore it. Now we have Ferguson going on in Missouri and because it was a white cop, it has to be racial. No one stopped blacks from applying for the positions, so now it is the fault of the white cop? Then you put twitter and all the media spouting off, they are stirring up trouble. Bring in Jackson and Sharpton and have Holder stick his nose in where it does not belong and you have backing for a riot. I went thru riots in East St. Louis in the 60’s it was not pretty and it will be worse now. The media needs to back off all this constant reporting and instigating that they are doing. There are going to be alot of people hurt or shot and they will blame the cops. When will the thugs take responsibility for their actions without it being racist if they are called on it? This is crazy!
