Barack Obama tries to distance himself from Jonathan Gruber

November 16, 2014

The confrontation was inevitable and the result was predictable: Barack Obama was asked about Jonathan Gruber’s comments and the president tried to distance himself.

  Here is more:

“The fact that an adviser who was never on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with in terms of the voters is not a reflection on the actual process that was run,” Obama declared at a press conference here, speaking for the first time about the comments by MIT economist Jonathan Gruber.

Technically Barack Obama is right, Jonathan Gruber was not a member of his staff, but he was not just some dude who played an ancillary role in crafting Obamacare either, as the president would apparently like to have us believe.

In fact, according to this article, the Obama regime sought him out shortly after taking office and he was handsomely rewarded for his efforts:

In 2009, just one month after President Obama took office, the Department of Health and Human Services put out a sole-source solicitation titled “Technical Assistance in Evaluating Options for Health Reform.” The contract would be with Gruber, who the document said was the only person “reasonably available to satisfy agency requirements.”

As the agency put it, “Dr. Gruber developed a proprietary statistically sophisticated micro-simulation model that has the flexibility to ascertain the distribution of changes in health care spending and public and private sector health care costs due to a large variety of changes in health insurance benefit design, public program eligibility criteria, and tax policy.”

The first four months of (Gruber’s) contract (with the Obama administration) could not be found on the FedBizOpp.gov Web site, but in June 2009, HHS renewed the contract for eight months, with a value of $297,600. Gruber in an e-mail confirmed that the first part of the contract was for $95,000.

gruber  He made nearly $400,000 and as the article also points out this means that Jonathan Gruber most likely made more as a consultant than he would have if he had joined the staff.

Barack Obama was also asked if he intentionally mislead the American people and he stated rather bluntly that he did not. Of course this is the same claim he made when asked about people losing their healthcare insurance despite his previous promise on multiple occasions that nobody would. He won the ‘Lie of the Year’ award for that fiasco.

So who are you going to believe: The man who told the lie of the year for political reasons, and the man who is obviously trying to protect whatever political clout he still might have, or the person who was being honest when he thought the American people would not find out?

It is clear that a prerequisite for working or for the Obama administration is the ability to lie deceive convincingly. That’s the Obama trademark.

Ascertain, a word I don’t like any better than “marginal”….ok, now with that said, NO I DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING OUT OF THE pESIDENTS MOUTH”! Of course he still thinks all he has to do is say it and it will be the law of the land. Not so much anymore, I think! Alot more are starting to question what he says, or turn the tube off or start calling out “liar” at the tube. Makes me happy to see that. This is a man that need to be put in his place and not allowed to do anything til his last 2 years are up. I know,,,,in a perfect world, you say, but surely there might be someone that can keep him from doing more damage??

I do not believe a word he says either and recent polls show the American people do not trust him. It took quite awhile but maybe people are starting to wake up. Hopefully it is not too late and hopefully a strong voice will come forward to stop him!

I saw this quote over at another blog (yes, I read others, haha) and it seemed to be food for thought for all of us:
“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” – Voltaire

I have been paying close attention to Ferguson, Mo….anyone else doing that? My town has a bad area that could have problems, as well. This is not a good situation and this Administration is right at the forefront of what is happening.

Although we are off topic, right this minute Hugh Hewitt is debating whether Ferguson will blow up or not. I say it is preordained to blow, the race hustlers need it to. And after the last election, the race hustlers have even more motivation.

Bruce, it is bound to happen, will not matter on the verdict! The cold weather will have to be factored in, however.

Lou, there is so much going on that all the blogs cannot cover all the stories but between us all hopefully we can at least touch on them.

Yes Steve, it is. Lou, as a lady, you might now know how fights worked for fights in school. Two guys would get in a beef, lots of talk, maybe a few fists, and often it can build to calls for after school fight By the time school is out, word has spread and there is a big turn out. Problem is the emotions have cooled. But everyone has turned out and they are expecting action. You have your reputation to defend, so reluctantly, the gladiators build the emotion to make the crowd happy, and they get the fight they wanted.

Bruce, that was not unlike my school, male or female, there were those fights. I went to a school that you watched your back and had 2 or 3 friends that went in the bathroom with you or got dressed for gym class the same time as you. There was security in numbers! It was NOT a good learning environment, but what are you going to do?? As soon as you got off the bi-state bus (St. Louis-E.St Louis) in the morning you were fair game for whatever happened that day. Same thing with getting on that same bus to head home, stuff happened then, as well.
