Jonathan Gruber admitted in 2009 that Obamacare would not bring down healthcare costs

December 30, 2014

Back in 2009 Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber released a policy brief in which he admitted whatever form of healthcare reform was passed that it would not do anything to bring down healthcare costs.

This is what he said on page 18 of the aforementioned brief:

Sure, we would like health care to be a little cheaper, or the cost to rise more slowly, but Americans aren’t ready to deal with the hard measures we’d have to take to get health care costs under control. That’s why I’ve been arguing strenuously that even though the bills that will come out of this process in the end won’t do a whole lot about cost control, they’re still a critical first step

  And from page 19:

Why are we closer than we’ve ever been before? Because there are no cost controls in these proposals. Because this bill’s about coverage. Which is good! Why should we
hold 48 million uninsured people hostage to the fact that we don’t yet know how to control costs in a politically acceptable way? Let’s get the people covered and then let’s do cost control.

gruberI can understand the point he is making, however that is not the bill of goods Barack Obama sold to the American people. He claimed his proposal would extend coverage to more Americans AND would save the Average family $2,500.

Here we can clearly see that was never part of the plan, this ranks right up there with if you like your plan you can keep your plan…

ObamaCare is the biggest tax hike on the middle class in US history. Yet, they elected the fool twice. Who was the bigger fool?

And of course he throws out 48 million uninsured as if it had ANY connection to the truth. It was proven that when illegal immigrants and young people who could have had, but didn’t want or need insurance and people just between jobs and coverage, the number was more like 12 million. And for that, they created a 20,000 page law without 1 single Republican vote, upturned 1/6 of the economy, and lied throughout the process.

Well, because I am self-employed and I lost my last healthcare plan, I had NO choice (you don’t have a choice when self-employed) but to sign up for Obamacare. After 6 months it has gone up almost 60$ a month for just me! Now, with both my husband (self-employed as well) and I on the plan we are paying just under 10,000.00 A YEAR!

And it is going to keep going up because I highly doubt the government is going to go back into Obamacare and address the cost issue. That was never the plan, this is all about crashing the private insurance industry!
