NASA climate scientists admit they are only 38% certain 2014 was the warmest year on record

  Last Monday the Earth System Science Center released a report which relied on the data from weather satellites which found that 2014 was not the hottest year on record. In fact the study admitted that the .02 Celsius increase in the temperature was equivalent to no increase, which means the earth is not warming.

  However just a few short days later NASA scientists again claimed in a new report that 2014 was indeed the hottest year on record. This news was naturally splashed all across the internet with headlines about how we were quickly reaching the point of no return and one story even stated that it was only a matter of time before all ocean-life would be extinct if we did not act quickly.

  So how can it be that we have two conflicting reports released within days of one another? Which one is right and which one is wrong?

The Nasa climate scientists who claimed 2014 set a new record for global warmth last night admitted they were only 38 per cent sure this was true.

In a press release on Friday, Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) claimed its analysis of world temperatures showed ‘2014 was the warmest year on record’.

The claim made headlines around the world, but yesterday it emerged that GISS’s analysis – based on readings from more than 3,000 measuring stations worldwide – is subject to a margin of error. Nasa admits this means it is far from certain that 2014 set a record at all.

As a result, GISS’s director Gavin Schmidt has now admitted Nasa thinks the likelihood that 2014 was the warmest year since 1880 is just 38 per cent.

Therefore it is impossible to conclude from our analysis which of 2014, 2010, or 2005 was actually the warmest year… the Earth’s average temperature for the past decade has changed very little.’

  NASA is now admitting that there has basically been no global warming in the past decade and admits it cannot be concluded that 2014 was the warmest year on record and yet that is exactly what they claimed. In fact the chances that 2014 was the warmest year on record stand at will under 50% by NASA’s own admission.

  Yet NASA still pushed 2014 as being the hottest year on record while the agency must have known it was far from certain and in fact highly unlikely in order to forward a political agenda and this is what passes for “settled science” nowadays…
