Does Scott Walker privately support amnesty for illegal immigrants?
Scott Walker has emphatically stated that he does not support amnesty for illegal immigrants but according to this story he privately told supporters that he does in fact support amnesty. Here is more:
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told a private dinner of New Hampshire Republicans this month that he backed the idea of allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the country and to eventually become eligible for citizenship, a position at odds with his previous public statements on the matter.
Mr. Walker’s remarks, which were confirmed by three people present and haven’t been reported previously, vary from the call he has made in recent weeks for “no amnesty”—a phrase widely employed by people who believe immigrants who broke the law by entering the country without permission shouldn’t be awarded legal status or citizenship.
However, just as emphatically, the Scott Walker camp is denying this account. Here is what his spokesperson, Kirsten Kukowski, had to say about this report:
“We strongly dispute this account. Governor Walker has been very clear that he does not support amnesty and believes that border security must be established and the rule of law must be followed. His position has not changed, he does not support citizenship for illegal immigrants, and this story line is false”
What is the truth? Does Scott Walker support amnesty or does he not support amnesty? It is hard to discern the truth in this age of deception for this could be nothing more than an attempt by the mainstream media to discredit the Wisconsin governor with conservatives because they feel he could be a real threat if he does indeed decide to run for the Presidency in 2016. But at the same time I have grown distrustful of anyone who seeks political power so should Scott Walker get the benefit of the doubt?
What do you guys think about this story?
Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

If true he can hold his next appearance in The Waffle House but if not true the damage done most probably won’t go away; the perceived stigma is indelible. After all he’s no democrat and only they can lie cheat and steal because they care.

You are exactly right, even if it turns out this is not true the question will linger and so the damage is already done…mission accomplished.

I’ll just go all conspiracy theory on you and say, Now who in the world started this ‘gossip’ cuz the mud slinging is already in full gear. 😉 It’s Friday and feeling the need to stir the pot! LOLOL!

You could be right there and perhaps this is just an attempt to bring him down by making conservatives question him. I don’t know, but I do know the left hates him and I think they are also afraid of him so I believe they will do anything to sop him.

Someone I follow on Discus is a big supporter of his. I asked him about Walker, since there really isn’t anyone I like. He had good things to say. On immigration he said Walker doesn’t support rounding up all the illegals and deporting them, but he supports sealing or securing – don’t remember which word he used – the border and reforming the immigration laws and then enforcing them.
There is no one I feel like I can support. Walker was one I thought I could get behind. Man, I’m screwed.

Thanks for that info Laura. I am in the same boat as you, there just seems to be nobody out there. I do not know enough about Walker to make a decision on him at this point but if it is true he is saying one thing publicly and another in private than there is no way I can vote for him.

walker had a meeting with sununu recently.
this just a guess on my part, but here’s how that probably went……
“we need you to out-conservative Cruz, get him to lose a few, then when he drops out, you drop out, and we promise to make you secretary of labor in the Jeb Bush administration”
because that’s the sort of deals sununu makes.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some deal making going on behind the scenes to clear the way for Jeb. I just saw Walker is also meeting secretly with the Chamber of Commerce, I wonder what that is about?

there is always deal-making. remember Jack Kimball? all that maneuvering to get rid of him, which damaged the party’s financial standing to this day and harmed many good candidates last election, was to clear the path for Romney. Kimball was a Herman Cain guy. and sununu wanted 100% romney support, or else. he had to keep up the “he’s the only one who can win!” meme. I suspect we’ll see that meme again for jeb bush.

I’m thinking we should have some kind of ‘one president to a family’ rule….yes? 🙂 🙂 🙂

I do remember that Allen! As I have said in the past, we do not actually chose our candidates, they are chosen for us by the elites and they only give us the illusion of choice!
That sounds pretty good to me Laura! Even if we don’t get Jeb we still have to deal with Hillary and eventually Chelsea and that is a thought I cannot stomach!

laura, I thought we had left hereditary positions of power back in europe. unfortunately the feudal system is back “in vogue” with the leadership. they’re calling it “socialist market economy” now..but it means the same thing.
the problem with their ideas comes when they figure out that, like before, an army of peasants with pitchforks can take a knight off his horse if they have the spines for the fight.
we won’t be using pitchforks this time around. we don’t want a fight..war is the last thing a sane person wants…but, Churchill said it far better than I ever could..
“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

That is a great quote from Churchill! The question is if people are not willing to stand up now will they have the courage to fight if it ever comes to that?

steve, it doesn’t take many of us.
3% of US gun owners outnumber every trigger puller they can muster 95 to 1
coincidentally, 3% is the estimated portion of the population that actively fought in the revolutionary war.

Walker has as much charm as a dish rag. It begins and ends there.

Guess you could say, he doesn’t have that Rock Star image. I think his head is, for the most part, headed in the right direction, but there is something about him that just doesn’t stand out as a strong character. I know he went up against the teachers Union and that is a feat, but he just isn’t going to be “the one” for us to want to get behind. We could do worse, but I just do not see him defeating a Democrat candidate. Ya, Laura, at this point (it is early) we are pretty much screwed.

All I know about Walker is how he went up against the unions and won, other than that I do not know enough about him to have an opinion at this point.

Yeah, unfortunately image and pizzazz play too big a role in the decision making process of too many people. They listen to how something is said rather than what is said…
